i was thinking about getting a 18inch btl, i do not plan on entering competitions i just simply would like to have a system that hits hard (really hard), sounds good, and lasts a long time. i have a 4000 watt hifonic brutus amp, if this is the right sub for me what options should i choose, or is there a better sub, if so which one?

    take your time, check some SSA products, maybe you want to get 2 subs ? 2x15 inch? Just take your time :)
