May 21, 200520 yr Toshiba Satellite or Dell Latitude. I've also heard that Averatec makes decent stuff, and they pretty cheap a well.
May 21, 200520 yr I love my new Gateway. HUGE widescreen. 1.25" thick. It is pretty heavy, but. . . 2.8 P4, 512DDR, 40gig HD, CDRW-DVD rom, built-in wireless. yadda yadda.Battery doesn't last too long though. I can get 3 hours just surfing the net or something else, but once I start multitasking and listening to music, it sucks the juice. It does charge rather quickly though, and has every in/output you could think of. And I only paid $500 for it.
May 21, 200520 yr Toshiba's are great... but expensiveGateways are very good too...much lessDell=poo, you can only get parts from dell which makes it a pain.Go here www.compusa.comPM me if there is anything that you like

May 22, 200520 yr dells are good if u dont plan to upgrade and are on a budget. however, on the bigger models the fan is loud, cant be taken to class IMO.(honestly, theres no point to taking a laptop to class other than games)in december i bought my dell for $1k3.2 p4 w/ ht512 ddr40gig hdcdrw/dvd wifi15.2" sxga screen (1400x1050)blah blah blahdownside: its like 9lbs, fan's too loud, battery life is about 3 hours with normal usage (i bought 2 batteries anyways)and u can get a dvdr drive on a laptop if u wanted.some sites let u put whatever you want in your laptop and they build it for you.newegg.com is one of the more popular sites to buy this stuff.
May 22, 200520 yr Yeah, listen to Pennis ... Dell is to the computer industry as Emo is to the music industry ...
May 22, 200520 yr Do this, buy a mother board and put everything in it, no case or anything, just watch out with the CPU fan, it has ripped my finger and made me bleed 3 times already, i have scars. Take the mtherboard anywere with the box it came with, built that is, and just plug in a monitor to it, and thats it, you have youself a motherboard comp.
May 23, 200520 yr DIY laptops, dont think so<{POST_SNAPBACK}>yeah you can...you cant build a laptop, but you can upgrade one.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>and...yeah you can...Acer M5/M6 and M5ne/M6ne NGPS: I've heard LOTS of reliability problems with Toshiba, and witnessed it as well.
