okay, so i got my XXX 15 in a couple days ago, i had it in there good running off my viper, 1 problem, is my SX moved more than my XXX does, so i thought maybe the XXX needs more power, or maybe it hasnt broken in yet, so i got my PA a3000db in, this adds in more problems, for some reason the amp isnt doing something right or i havent set the "extra complicated" 3 knobs, wow you match the gain which i did 1800 x 1 then square root it comes out to 42.4v, so i set it there, but it isnt as loud as the viper was hardly, its not really much louder if any, but the lowend is gone and for some reason i have more midbass now, so wtf, it used to hit some notes with my viper, but with the PA, it acts like its not even there, like the ssf is cutting them out like the really low bass part of bme click and parts of late nite tip have like gone to barley nothing, some lil jon songs the higher bass sounds the same but if it hits those low notes, they suck, it sounds like my klipsch computer sub, because it dosent go really low and has good midbass, i check ssf and turn it all the way down for the heck, but nothing different, i have bass boost off and gain is about 1/4 or so, so does anybody have a soultion, the PA is only running on 4ga right now, but im getting the 1/0 next week

i used a dmm and re checked the gain, even turned it up a bit, still low end is gone

and i checked the voltage, it is about 12.5 when bass is hitting and about 13.8 idle, what do i need to do, do the gain to actual ohms, because when i check those its like 1.5 when i want 1, so do i need to set it to 1.5? my ground is a 8ga, but im changing it to a 4ga tomorrow but i dont think this will matter for those probs, does anyone have a solution? is it defective ,

answer any of the questions you know the answer too or please throw in some info about this, its making me just want to put back the viper in there :angry2:

1. welcome to SSA :D

2. Swap the viper back on it, see if its the PA.

Doesnt matter if it moves as much, just listen for the low notes.

i guess you finnaly got that fuse in huh, lol.

what kinda of alt do you have,

I know mines is at 8 ohms and it was still dimming, well i have 2 amps, but still. When the bass hits it might be sucking more power than the viper did, so when it goes to hit the notes it's not getting enough juice...doesn't really sound like thats the problem though.

Also what is ur xxx ohm load? 1?

Not sure what the problem is, mess wt the crossover.

I would say just play wt the knobs and see if you can get it to sound right, and if you can't, idk.

It could be your HU, too many things to say.

out of phase as in what? switch the phase button? i just really dont know the prob of it and ts making me really mad. i just have a standard alt so i dont know

it does have a phase swithch on the amp though.

No..as in you have the negative for the positive and vice versa.

Flop the polarity around on the sub and see if you have something bunked up there...

are you talking about the WHOLE sub out of phase...or the vc's out of phase from each other???

can be both...whole sub out of phase sounds horrid, and the voice coils fighting each other isn't exactly a good thing either...and is very noticeable

well he only has one sub, and having the phase 180 out on the whole sub wouldn't exactly sound that horrid, or have way less output...its the same signal, depending on vehicle, and such 180 out might sound better, but that a whole nother ball game. but having the coils out would sound like @ss and have way less output.

put the SX back in...if its fixed it has nothing to do w/ the amp

if its not fixed its the amp...

i would check that but it sounded fine with the viper, its either the amp or the power its getting or settings so i will look some more

Get a ohm meter and check the VC's on the sub, one might be blown.

This definintly sounds like a phasing problem though, movement with little to no sound coming from the sub. If it is phasing its going to most likly be the VC's are wired incorrectly.

Definitly hook the SX back up if you have it, or any sub for that matter. You dont need to put it in the box either, you can run it free air and you should be able to tell.

okay, the sub not blown, everything plays fine except the sub lost the major lows like in late nite tip and some other songs, but not to worry for some reason after i messed with all the things last night and it still didnt work i quit, then i go to listen to it this morning and for some reason everything is fine now, i really dont know what happened but im happy now :) but i still dont know what was wrong with it, and everybody was suggesting out of phase on the sub and all that crap and i SAID IT WAS FINE WITH THE VIPER,so its not Going to be out of phase on voice coils, and the wires were right on the terminals, but i dont care now because its fine and im happy

thats good and all, but i'd still be curious as to what was wrong...subs and amps don't just fix themselfs.....

but its fine now, i dont know, but i was riding around on my lunch break and then the sub when pop, i thought the fuse blew, but i get to looking back there and the wire came out of the dstro block, so i leave it and go home and fix it, then it works fine, maybe it wasnt getting enough power to produce the lows or just needed restarting or who knows, but im happy and i got my Rainbows installed :D:) so its a good day, and those rainbows sound so nice for how much i paid for them , here is a hint, it was more than 100$ but less than 130$ for them brand new :) with shipping
