Hello,

I have a little problem and don't know for sure how to solve it.

I have two FI 15 inch subs and am running two 5200 watt amps.

They are wired seperatly but are drawing power from the two 850 amp batteries originally in the van and two additional Kinetik 3800 batteries wired parallel.

The problem is that I burned up a brand spanking new 250 Amp alternator from Excessive amps.

I am new to this and don't know if trying to draw the 10400 watts from the batteries overworked the amp or what...

Any idea what I have wrong that I need to fix??

Many thanks I appreciate it.

do you charge the batteries in the back with a charger?

if you dont the alt has to work harder to charge those also.

Have you talked with Excessive to see first if it was a faulty alt?

What are your actual amplifiers.....i.e. Brand & Model? What Fi subs?

Do you listen to this system on a daily basis?

The amps are Brutus 2600RMS the Fi subs are 15 inch all options that were possible. Heating ring, double voice coil, etc, etc. they were built for daily. Although I don't run it at much more then minimum normally when just playing music.

The additional batteries are hooked up in parallel with the existing two 850 amp Ford van batteries. The alternator was a 250Amp alternator and yes I did speak with Excessive amps. He said he has been building alternators for over 10 years etc, etc. the usual and expected reply...Since I am in the Caribbean and a good 2000 miles away I don't have the luxury to argue much.

Shouldn't the bigger alternator be able to take care of the additional batteries?

I am now installing 2 other batteries (BATCAP 4000), a 350 amp alternator and if I can locate it a bracket kit to run two 350 amp alternators. I don't know what else I can do.

I would appreciate your input on this.

Many thanks.

I hope those are BTLs. And those amps probably wont put out 5200wrms (combined)

even though you have a bigger alt doesnt mean you dont have to charge the batteries.

you still have to. the alt has to work way harder to charge all the batteries.

or you can put an isolator in there.
