when building kick panels for 6.5 comps would it be better to leave it sealed or to cut a hole and vent them into the inner fender. what is the sound diff in the both. thank you.

Well.....it depends. Venting them into the inner fenderwell would be running them IB, keeping them sealed would be, well.....keeping them sealed. Just depends on what your speakers are and which way they will perform optimally.

If you are going to keep them sealed, I'd atleast cut a hole in the back and vent them into the carpet....usually clears up the midrange some. And there is a difference between just cutting a hole in the back of the enclosure venting into the carpet, and actually venting them into the fenderwell.

venting into the carpet is more or less aperiodic

and venting into the fender well is more or less IB.

i have the RE 6.5 mids. i don't know how they would perform best :(

anyone know?

Send an email to RE

Or would that just be throwing money down a drain

Eh....Venting into the carpet isn't really aperiodic, since with aperiodic you are using the matte to control the impedance and resonance of the system, and it requires some real tuning and such. With the venting into the carpet, you are more or less just reducing the standing waves and giving the midrange frequencies somewhere to go.

And I have absolutely no idea how the RE mids perform best :D

Sorry

chit!

i've emailed RE several times about several different things. and i have yet to recieve 1 reply!

emailing RE will get you absolutely nowhere. like tommy said, call em up.

I have the RE 6.5's also----I have used mine sealed in the doors(small enclosures) that is the only way I have tried them---I might try a vented enclosure next time for chit and giggles.
