Posted June 20, 200520 yr Okay this year I compete in DB Drag Street B, and SLAP S2.Next year I want to do street max 1-2 in DB Drag and SS1 in SLAPI currently have 2 vfl 150.1sI like them, but they just arent doing it for me on 14v.I want to get new amps in a few weeks, and hopefully use them next year too. I have a few in my mind I have been thinking of, but I wanted to see if anyone could chime in with some good, strong amps at 14v.Thanks.
June 20, 200520 yr Author Memphis 4000ive read that is stomps on others in its class<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Whats the price on those things? Also I cant spend an insane amount on an amp. Looking for probably under 1g per amp, via ebay, forums, whatever. Going to go with 2 for now, and then 2 more of whatever I get later.
June 20, 200520 yr Author Not out yet. I guess Ill put the amps that I have on my list20.1sZ1sColossus200.1sA few more I cant think of right now
June 20, 200520 yr 20.1's.... NG<{POST_SNAPBACK}>junk<{POST_SNAPBACK}>lmfao...i take it you're joking...or (as usual) have no idea what you're talking about. peaceNG
June 20, 200520 yr T3 or Collossus are the hot one's in street class testing right now.The collossus is pretty sick in the little time that I spent with it.
June 20, 200520 yr T3's only if the new ones....early production ones were overrated...but even in new...blah...the hifonics is a good bet, as is the memphis. kicker's 2500.1 are decent, but a lil lacking compared to others...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
June 20, 200520 yr buy my hifonics herculestwo of them beat out a colossus by 1.2 in our testsI was planning to run four of them
June 20, 200520 yr I'm not talking about ratings, I'm talking about which amps are louder to the sensor. For example:Originally posted by Team Livewire - Mike:[QB] 1 Autotek MM4000.1D 2.4ohm DCR W/Transformer = 1.2ohm DCR All Tests were on a single 12volt battery, car off, 14volts at start of burp, and on 2-12" RE SX dual 2.4ohm subs.Volts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load / SPL12.5 4.6 57.44 2.72 137.431.5 11.4 359.51 2.76 145.556 21.3 1192.4 2.63 150.070.5 28.4 2004.1 2.48 151.779 32.4 2568 2.43 152.788 38 3337.9 2.32 153.31 Goliath 2-RE SX 12's 2.4ohm DCRVolts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load / SPL13.8 1.4 19.33 9.85 135.449.2 6.3 310.33 7.8 147.077.1 10.3 793 7.49 150.986 11.6 998.11 7.41 151.694 12.7 1194.05 7.40 152.01 Goliath 2-RE SX 12's 2.4ohm DCR W/Transformer = 1.2ohm DCRVolts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load / SPL13.8 3.4 47.02 4.05 138.738.8 10.5 407.97 3.69 147.961.1 17.2 1051.6 3.55 151.773.4 21.9 1608.22 3.35 153.279 24 1896.96 3.29 153.61 Goliath 2-RE SX 12's .6ohm DCRVolts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load / SPL14 7.4 103.7 1.89 142.121.9 11.5 252.43 1.9 146.038.9 21.3 831.43 1.82 150.848.9 27.3 1335.87 1.79 152.457.6 34.1 1974.85 1.68 153.762.6 40 2512.02 1.56 154.465 42 2743.5 1.54 154.51 Goliath 2-RE SX 12's .6ohm DCR W/Transformer = .3ohm DCRVolts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load / SPL13.6 13.6 184.96 1 144.221.0 21.5 454.63 .97 148.036.2 39.8 1456.04 .9 152.445 51.4 2327.58 .87 153.946 55 2549.39 .83 154.4Each test ended witht he highest SPL. The next click resulted in a lower SPL on every test. The next volume click in the test at .6 with Trans resulted in the amplifier going into protect. This was the only time that the Goliath has ever gone into protect for us. Also note that the Goliath is very sensitive to signal voltage. We used an Audio Control line driver throughout our testing and gave it a hair under .3 volts throughout testing. Settings on the amp are as follows: gain 3/4, boost 0, phase 0, subsonic all the way down, and low pass all the way up. Please note that this is just the first set of tests for us with this amp and we hope to provide more information soon. All of the tests were done on the same day and the tests show that the Goliath yields a much higher SPL with far less power output. We are waiting to hear the exact explanation as to why this is, but I can tell you that this amp isn't even stressing to make this power. It is clean! Some notes:The Autotek produced 2004watts to get a 151.7. The Goliath produced 1051 to get the same score. The Autotek produced 2004 watts to get a 151.7, and the Goliath produced similar power with 1975watts to get 2db higher with a 153.7. 8O The Autotek topped out at 3338watts in this application and 153.3, but the Goliath topped out at 2744watts and 154.5db. That is 1.2db more SPL with 594 watts less. Just to give you a reference, it took the Goliath 639 watts to go from a 152.4 to a 153.7. Now this should be a fun Math challenge. [/QB]Wattage ratigs are not the most important thing when it come's to competition. You HAVE to consider the dampening factor, THD, et al.

You HAVE to consider the dampening factor, THD, et al.understood, but i wasn't really talking about ratings either...sorry. i meant they were overrated in testing..they weren't as strong as advertised. and the testing i'm referring too as to do with the local team with whom i'm friends with...in their early testing of the T3's, they found them to basiclly be junk...but rumor has it the new T3's are worlds better...but still not the best amp available...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
June 20, 200520 yr Author Okay Nick out of those amps, and the autotek, which I was thinking of but forgot initially, what do you think?Colossus?
June 20, 200520 yr I dont know chit about your setup or what You need, so I'm not suggesting anything.Just pointing out what's doing well in street classes right now.
June 20, 200520 yr Author Hmmmmm lol I think its obvious what I need, to get louder ha.Its funny they tested with SXs, because thats exactly what Im using right now.Do you have any test results of a colossus at all?Or know anywhere to buy the autotek or goliath? But this will mainly be for SLAP, where I will have 4 kinetik hc2400s for battery support. Until next year, when I do street max.

June 22, 200520 yr baah, SM 12 is basically as bad as street C.You try to go to SS, You had better have a LARGE line of credit somewhere. and Noah's right, the goliath is not cheap, even with a hookup. The hookups are slim as yet considering they've only had them for a month now, and are still playing them damned selves! LoLDon't bother calling John either, I talked to him a few days ago. Street A, B, SM 1-2, some SS & some Ext classes sponsorship slots are all taken. But at least he pointed me to the Team hangout... looking for leftover colossuses! -Nick
June 22, 200520 yr Author Lol yea I just emailed him a couple days ago if I could buy direct and get like a competitor discount, since I have no where to buy them from excpet ebay.
