So my brother keeps telling me that even if i port my box that it will have no effect on how loud it will be, because it is in a trunk and that the only way i will tell teh diffrence is if i have a suv or fold down seats :fart:

I know this is not true, but to an extent it kinda makes since :faintthud:

haha, no but he did bash his head into a glass door and broke it(the door that is).

He's older and thinks he knows more, which may be true but not when it comes to audio. :P

also for some reason he thinks small boxes are loud

he is stuck in the late 90's where the way people got loud was with super high Q selaed boxes and lots of power...

now we go the more effient way with ported boxes with lots of port area..yes ported is always louder than sealed of the same size....

oh and small sealed boxes are louder in the upper bass spectrum...but it kills your lows

looks like i gotta go buy me some pvc.

Since i did have to cut my port off to get the dam box in the trunk, i guess i can always go wt round ports.

I dont see me getting much prot area this way though.

edit:

I also still dont see how you can have alot of port area and be tuned to a reasonable Freq.

edit again..

Ok so i was calculating stuff

And i can have 5 round ports that are 4in wide 10.9in long...That seems like alot of port to me to be tuned to 35

its because you have 4 ports. if you had one port of the same area as all 4 put togather the port wouldnt have to be as long ;)

because you have a trunk you can use less port area because you wont hear much of any port noise like you would if you had a truck or SUV or hatch :)
