Well, on the Fisher Customs site, there is an enclosure for sale for a HDC3 15", 4.02 @ 36 hz.. Then I look at their loaded enclosures and there is the SSA ICON 15", 4.0 Cubic Feet, Tuned to 32 hz.. I'm going for something more SPL, based. I love the lows, but I also like the sub to be able to go through the higher ranges nicely too. So I'm not too sure which to go with? Any opinions and experienced users of either with some stories would be nice. Note this will be in a Honda Civic 2005 coupe, I will do what I have to do to make the box fit... but if anyone else has a Civic I'd like to now how easy it is to fit 4.0 cubes in the trunk. I will be swapping vehicles after the new year to a Magnum. I would also like to know what sub is more efficient, in other words... which one can I get moving with the least power. Ok that is all, no hate please... its Christmas.

Merry Christmas SSA

the icon requires lesss for sure. 1500w and less for the AQ for good sounding bass, up to 2400w if u want brutal bass

Sounds Like You Want The HDC3 To Me. I'm About To Be Running One Single 10" Copper Coil Version In A Pure SPL Setup Temporarily.

Edit: Two COMPLETELY Different Drivers, By The Way.

Two COMPLETELY Different Drivers, By The Way

I'm aware of that... just trying to see what each offers.

From the videos I've seen its looks like the Audioque is quite efficient and goes through notes like butter, while still moving air and killing them lows.

I do want it.... I really just wanna stay with the Audioque 1200d and If it could get the HDC3 moving nice with that would be great. I got a p400.4 pushing highs and mids. Might take the p400.4 out to avoid drawing more power and getting some new Memphis co-axils ( they scream even when powered with just the head unit). Until I get to the electrical upgrades. But more opinions on the Icon or the HDC3 based on my wants.

I agree, sounds to me like you want the HDC3. Maybe you just need a kick in the ass to get going, lol. So here it is, GET THE HDC3! Ha Ha, seriously though, they get loud and carry the high notes well but still dig the lows. And the AQ1200D will push it decent, even though they will beg for so much more, lol. For a little more you could really do it justice and throw a MB Quart DSC2000.1D at it. $275 shipped on egay all day. They love 2000 watts. Well goodluck with whatever you choose.

LOL, I assume that is a joke. The difference between 1500w and 2400w won't make a difference to your ears. If so, hardly at all. It may make a few more things shake in your vehicle sure and definitely will give you a better score, but "good sounding" to "brutal" is definitely a joke.

And to the original poster, I wouldn't choose between the Icon and the HDC3 for your goals. The AQ is better for your goals perhaps, but I wouldn't buy an AQ driver. There are other options than those two btw.

Reason why not, and what would be some other nice options with a nice price tag too go along. Nice as in, nice in the wallet .. not a fully loaded btl.

That's reason enough.

why not get a sundown z-15 for 2 bills? that what i would do in my opinion, it would go good with 1200 watts.

AQ is regarded as cheap chinese crap by some, me included, even though i'm gonna run one. Hypocritical huh? Later on i plan to do the same with the SA8's, SPL and a little daily setup in my '55 Chevy. I would look around, there are other choices.

Edit: The Sundown Z and Fi BL are nice choices, i believe the Z picks up where the old v.1 Nightshades left off if i'm not mistaken.
