ok :)

well the big 3 are three different main electrical wires under the hood of your car. and they go:

-battery negative to chassis (ground)

-battery positive to alternator

-engine block to chassis (ground)

upgrading these wires to 1/0 helps the flow of electricity throughout your cars charging system. the thicker the wire... the better the flow

So I should buy 1/0g wire, a new battery and a high output alternator before I buy the sub and amp?

Yes. I would do the big three first then install a Voltmeter so you can monitor your voltage and that will determine whether or not you need to get a high output alternator.

Wow, okay. What would you recommend to get in order to keep the sub running? The amp I had in mind to power the sub is a Pioneer Premier PRS-D2000SPL.

You dont need top of the line electrical system for 1 btl, u might need a strong capacitor possibly an extra battery but u dont need to get all that stuff for it, i have a 15" btl fully loaded on a hifonics brutus 20100, 2000rms, and no extras and my battery gage is fine, i am getting an extra battery just so it takes strain off the alternator but u dont NEED it.

You all have me so lost now.. I need a new high output alternator and a strong fresh battery, yes? Do I need two batteries in my car, or just a brand new high end one?

what do you mean by fresh? a new starting battery?? i would recommed a HO alt, and at least one Kinetik, Powermaster

Your starting battery is not designed to run a sound system. You need a deep cycle as well.

Yeah, sorry, I know nothing of car batteries or alternators. So if I upgrade my alternator to a high output one, should my battery be just fine?

just like Duran said. your battery now isn't made for a sound system so you should just keep that one as the starter battery and add a deep cycle in the back.

Are you really sure you need such a big monster sub like a btl ?

Why do you talk about the Pioneer amp? Do you already have it ?

You can play without any HO alt, but it will be Very bad for your car !!!

Usually Corollas don't have big alt, so you definitely need a HO one, and 2 agm batteries : one under the hood and one in the trunk.

You must understand that all these advices are important to have your car and your system safe for long time.

BTW look for deadening materials for your doors and the trunk at least : there is a sub forum here about SecondSkin products.

x2, are you sure you need a subwoofer that requires upgraded electrical?

Well it's just what I'm considering/looking into for future reference. I'm thinking about saving up for a newer car, used. And if I do that I'm definately going to gut the current sound system in my Toyota and put it into the new car. The Corolla isn't worth any money anyways.

I already have Dynomat in my trunk and rear dash of my Corolla, by the way. But those were the only problem spots with the two 12's.

ok so check out these names for alternators:

-dc power inc, iraggi, mechman

these names for batteries

-xs power, deka (model 9A31H specifically), kinetik

there's more obviously but those are the top names in my head atleast. someone else will suggest more if they feel it's necessary

any other q's?

please dont look into iraggi. ive seen too many horror stories about their alternators. but yes, mechman and dc power are respected companies.

I just talked with a store called Napa Auto Parts, which is highly known store around here. When I told them what I was running in my car (800w rms @ 2 ohm amp + 100w rms @ 4 ohm amp), they said they 'did the math' and that I would need a 180 amp alternator. Is this true, or do they not know something about the Big 3 that could help this change?
