Posted January 6, 201015 yr Here is the delima, I can either run 2 15" Fi Q sealed in a 4.5 cuft enclosure (net vol.) or 1 15" ported in a 4 cuft enclosure (net vol.) tuned to 30 Hz. Now what am looking for is clean, low end bass with the potenial to get loud. Looking at both setups, which would produce cleaner low end bass. Am not looking to compete or anything, its just a nice low end daily setup for my personal uses. Am also willing to play around with tuning if there is any suggestion. Thanks in advance for the response.
January 6, 201015 yr I had a 12" q ported in 2.2 cubes tuned to 32 hz and it always lacked from 50 to 80..it was very bottom heavy..i ended up going sealed and loved it even though it lacked in outputseeing that you're going with 2 15's, output shouldn't be an issue...in a perfect install with 2 15" q's, i'd vote sealed
January 6, 201015 yr what am looking for is clean, low end bass with the potenial to get loudThat isn't very helpful.Clean? Anything on this site will do thatLow end bass? Again anything on this site will do that...unless your definition is jackedPotential to get loud? Wow, specific. This really needs to be nailed down.
January 6, 201015 yr m5 is right it a little thin what i suggest is picking up the book loud speaker design cook book. in the book they talk about alignments there is like four main sealed alignment they talk about. the possibilities for each alignment there is just so many of them because you can go small sealed to a over sized sq sealed that has fairly good out put. you got to learn to read the graphs in the book and what they represent either by trial and error or buy some one telling you what it will be. this way you can tell us what your thinking like a cb4 alignment with 2.5 cubic feet for sq loud bass or even a cb4 with 1.5 cu ft for that tighter bass. it gets even worst for port just be warned any ways hope this help i am not suggesting a box yet but trying to help get you up to speed on them. also try amazon / half .com for the book i suggested i got mine on amazon. for like 17 bucks shipped and used were on half there brand new for 80 bucks.
January 6, 201015 yr 1) I don't know if you can fit 2 15" Q in a 4.5 cu ft sealed enclosure, that seems too small.2) 4.5 sealed or 4 ported to 30 Hz? Impossible!3) What do you want to know? Which setup will be louder between 2 subs sealed or 1 sub ported?I don't know! You should tell what you want, what car, what music you listen to,...etcYou can also read some more on this forum. I'm sure you could find lots of informations, so that you could ask more specific questions. Good luck and Happy New Year to you all !
