Posted February 5, 201015 yr so i found a just like new rf power hx2 15 for $200 but im trying to find sumthing a lil cheaper or atleast brand new that will satisfy. i've been thinking bout a sa-8 or orphan 8 and was wondering what the most power i should put to one daily to get the most output......im interested in any ones suggestions for single sub in the cab of a 76 caprice. going for spl not sq but wanna spend under $200 and run about 1000rms Edited February 5, 201015 yr by aimone
February 5, 201015 yr Why not just go with the RF 15"? I don't see why you'd rather spend the same amount of money on a 8" sub as opposed to a perfectly fine 15". It's not like you don't have room in that caprice for a sub that big. You could get the HX2 and build a nice ported box for it and be very satisfied off 1kw. I mean it's all personal preference, but I can just see the 15" outdoing an 8" off 1kw. especially if you're looking for SPL. Edited February 5, 201015 yr by Shag
February 5, 201015 yr Cone size is your friend. What is the biggest box you can fit? Really can't recommend jack without knowing...
February 5, 201015 yr Sundown Z15 D2 and D4 Close-Out Special - SSA Car Audio ForumBAM I would say best bang for your buck would be the deal that sundown has going on for the Z15. Will be louder than an 8
February 5, 201015 yr Author im willing to do the whole back seat which i did a rough measurement and without blocking my windows i can gow-61"h-26"d-22" maybe a couple more inches deep without hittin my front seatsi decided to go with the hx2 cause i found a rf 1000.1 for $150 so after buying those i should have enough left to build a box just let me know how big of box i should build to get the most out of the sub and which way to face the sub and the port and ill post pics of the buildi cant wait!......damn federal needs to deposit
February 5, 201015 yr Gee, real easy to help when you don't post ANYTHING about the size of the sub...If you haven't already bought them, DON'T, you are WAY to jumping the gun and there are a ton of better solutions for your needs...although hearing your needs would help.
February 5, 201015 yr glad I spent time copying and pasting the link when you decided to not even consider it..... JK hope you enjoy your new sub!!!!1

That is why I recommended the Z-15

There are a lot of options for under $200, but as m5 said, we can't help too much without knowing what you want from a subwoofer.
February 5, 201015 yr In his first post he said SPL, but it would help if we narrowed down just what type of SPL he wants. Do you want a one-note wonder that will put up the best numbers on an SPL meter? Or do you want something as loud as possible while being somewhat listenable? What music or frequencies do you want to play?Your back seat is 16+ cubic feet, way more than enough for a 15" sub in a ported box. Should only need 5-6 cubes or so. I'd rather have the Sundown than the RF, but that's just my opinion.
February 5, 201015 yr Author just like the title of this thread i want the best bang for the buck. i want a sub that ill be able to feel and that will move some air and get some flex going on. i have like 24 hrs till my decision dead line. im stuck between the rf power hx2 15. the sundown z15(i heart sundown). or maybe a type r 12 cuz i can get 1 for $100 im depending on u guys to lead me in the loudest most pressure felt direction on a budget of $200 or less for a sub and at most $150 for an amp
February 5, 201015 yr Author its gonna be a daily beater listening to mostly rap hip hop. i want good frequency response while also hitting the hard low bass. like for instance put on by jeezy i would like all the bass notes on that song to sound good and be felt on the lows, or hit real hard on bass i love you or grippin the grain screwd
February 5, 201015 yr for me it would be a no-brainer , but I've never been a fan of RF subs besides the TRF (only because of the SPL woofers based on that thing)
February 5, 201015 yr any 15 will move more than "some air". Any of the 15s would sound nice playing some "jeezy" and do what you described. Also if you heart sundown then why not get the sundown. If I hearted something but purchased something else bc it was 100 dollars cheaper or because some one else recommended it I would personally not be satisfied. I would always be thinking about what my heart was set on, and why the heck I didn't get that.... That is just me though. I have never heard the Z-15, but I would take it over the type R any day. again that is just me
February 6, 201015 yr Author i agree with ya on the last post imma go with the sundown. ive never heard a z-15 either and i know wut the fosgate could do. but sundown is the final choice
