Posted March 4, 201015 yr Hello, I am wanting to upgrade my OEM alternator before I blow it . I am looking at an Iraggi 200 amp for $399 or 220 amp for $439. I dont mind the extra $40 so I am thinking 220 amp.Mechman is also an option as many people in my area give good reviews. The only downside is they dont make one for my car. If they did I wouldnt be writing this.Currently I have a 2009 Toyota yaris 4 door sedan. 1 JL Audio 1000/1 powering 1 15" Fi BL Loaded. Also 1 600 x 4 amp for mids and highs. I have another JL 1000/1 sitting in my closet begging me for some action. I want to do the alt. upgrade first then Big 3 then a yellow top or kinetik or something. ( Im upgrading grounds immediately ).I am looking for honest reviews, personal experiences, or any opinions as I have heard mixed reviews with Iraggi. I want this to happen very soon, though I dont want to blow $500 f**king dollars. I am being patient as the Mechman alternator is not impossible, it will just take longer to achieve my goal.P.S. Do the irragi alternators heat up quick due to smaller housings. Any experiences? Edited March 4, 201015 yr by Typicaljawaiian
March 4, 201015 yr I bought an alt from Iraggi a long time ago, in itself it was good, for the 100 bucks he charged me for a custom bracket, that itself was absurd....cold rolled steel, hand cut, rough and shitty....i've also had a friend who recently bought from him, regulator went to hell after 3 months on him.....but then again, i've also heard nothing but great things about him....so maybe it was either just something bad squeaking through or just lack of effort at times....i dont know that i would buy from him again after my experience and i know my friend will not....even if i spend a lot more from someone else....one bad experience is all it takes.
March 4, 201015 yr Author Hey thanks for the reply. Very helpfull.Still seeking any input, experiences.
March 4, 201015 yr Author Yeah, did a little research w/ DC but it seems they don't have anything for my vehicle also. I have been reading in the electrical section of the forums and realize the I'mportance of a good alt. And being patient. I am focused on Irragi because i can get that immediately. Looking for concrete reviews as wasting this $500 would be devastating for me.
March 4, 201015 yr From what Ive heard lately, Dom is trying to make up for the poor customer service. He was MIA for a little while but Ive heard nothing but great things about his altys and even seen a few guys using them at the Autorama. Sucks cause Im interested as well. I would try to call him and ask for yourself if you want the absolute answer. As for Mechman, I can say he has a quality product. Installed one last summer and havent had a tick since. Its doing the job just fine. Hope this helps.

A lot of these guys will build it custom. Thats what they do.
March 4, 201015 yr Author @-bigrank916, every bit helps man!W/ Mechman I need to send pictures and have all kinds of custom work done. The Irragi alt. im told is a drop in according to an email from Dom. Another reason to lean towards Irragi. But, with that comes the possibility of using the same OEM housing which dissipates heat poorly right?
March 4, 201015 yr Author Calling direct IS what I need to do, yes you're correct. Going the custom route will probably take me outside of my $500 budget. But yes I will be making some calls.

Unless the OEM case is fully closed because all the H/O alts I see arent. Ya, it would be best to call. Ive never talked to Dom but I know Matt is a really cool cat to deal with.
