Posted March 6, 201015 yr What aluminum alloy is best for electrical?Im asking because im using very thick and wide aluminum buss bars on my next build.
March 6, 201015 yr Author i've heard copper is the best, but idk about aluminum.well yes but the cost is just to much and i know for the price alum is great to.Just want to know wich alloy is better for electrical

Did you look at brass as an alternative ?
March 6, 201015 yr Alloy 1100 or a slightly altered version Alloy 1145 is outstanding for conductivity! However, it does come at a price! If you want to save money and go with a less conductive material, you can use alloy 6061. Alloy 6061 is approximately 20% less conductive so you will need to increase thickness to compensate. It is true that bars can handle more current with more surface area but i don't know how wide you would like to go to compensate for thickness, hehe. I usually like to go no wider than 2".
