April 11, 201114 yr in this article on how to determine the minium port area, it ask for the "effective diameter" of the driver being used....the SSA XCON 18" is actually 18.5" outside diameter....but what is the "effective diameter" per this formula's application? Is there a differance?how does one determine this spec?would sd be the appropriate spec here? Thanks, chop

As Sd = pi*(Dia/100)^2/4 The effective diameter is normally the diameter of the cone, plus 1/2 the surround, for wide roll surrounds at least.
