Posted March 16, 201015 yr i have been killin myself trying to figure out a box design for my ranger and have gotten nowhere with it. i got a couple reply's on other forums but nothing set in stone.the sub is a 15"btl and my dem are 50" wide x 16 tall x 16 deep, 5.9cf before sub displacement and port displacement. i need it to have ports on both sides of the sub cause i want the sub in the center of the box (its that way to even out the weight in the truck).i would like it tuned to around 33-34hz.. any help on figuring my port length would be great. please put in laymans terms cause i am not very bright when it comes to this kinda stuff.any help would be greatly appreciated, thanksbtw the sub and ports are firing to the roofhere is kinda what im talking about. March 16, 201015 yr I would just put the sub on the pass. Side and port on the drivers side. That'll be the easyest way.
March 16, 201015 yr Author right, but as i said i need it in the middle to try to keep the weight even in the truck. thanks though
March 16, 201015 yr For 60sq in of port. @5^ it'll be like 3x5x11 5/8 tuned at 33 hz. That's just a rough est. On port and sub displacment.
March 16, 201015 yr Author thanks, but i really need exact demensions cause i want this to b the last box i have to build for this truck.
March 16, 201015 yr Make your box the 50x16x16, and make each port 14.5" tall x 2.25" wide x 35" deep. That'll give you 4 cubes @ 33 hz. Or, the two boards that make up the L-shaped port will probably nearly come together at the back of the box on the inside. Just make sure the opening between them is 4.5" (2.25" x 2). You can just end the boards so that they're 4.5" apart. If that means your ports are only 34" long each or whatever, that's fine. It'll only raise your tune about .5 hz, and that's in between your 33-34 hz still anyways.

March 17, 201015 yr Author Take your sketch and take what KU40 gave you and draw it out!thanks for that helpful tip, i was trying to but my math didnt come out right and in stead of me bustin my head more than i already am i figured it would be easier to have KU40 do it so i can see exactly what he means.sorry if that sounded shty but i have been tryin to figure this out for about 3 weeks now and im at the piont to just say f it.i was also thinkin round ports might work better, any thoughts on that? March 17, 201015 yr What KU40 gave you will work out just fine! I have no Sketchup here at work but maybe I can use Paint and work something up for you.
March 17, 201015 yr Author the problem i am having is on the two "L" parts touching the port coming off the top with the double baffle =13", that will give me the 2.25" i need for the port width off the bottomthe lower port then measures 21.25 so that would only laeve me 1"between the two lower port boards right?
