Posted July 24, 200520 yr well i was examining my alternator today, and this is the one im gonna send in for exessive amperage to mod. the area circled in red is the place where the wiring harnesses goes to connect to everywhere and it doesnt look like i can run 1/0 gauge, and if i keep the stock wire, for sure it will catch fire. Comments, ideas?
July 25, 200520 yr Author i would say keep the stock wiring.Splice into the stock wiring wt the 1/0 guage.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>if i do that i wont catch anything on fire rite? thats wat im scared of.
July 25, 200520 yr just splice it as close as you can.make sure you fuse it. and you should be alright, i would run it for a while a look at it just to make sure.
July 25, 200520 yr Author hmm its gonna be hard to spice....lookey:the 2 "V+" prongs go 2 the ignition switch and batteryand the little prong goes to the Dash light, and the isolated prong goes to the voltage regulator.help....
July 26, 200520 yr no i meant keep the harness, and splice it from the wires coming from the harness. Just make it closest to the harness as possible
July 26, 200520 yr Author ah. isee wat yer satin.but i chatted a lil with nathan from excessive amperage, and he said he would just solder a 1/0 gauge crimp ring to the B+ prong so i can run the 1/0 wire and keep the rest stock wiring.thanks for your suggestions!! you guys are so helpful
July 26, 200520 yr What gets me is the voltage regulator. I have not seen a alt with an external regulator in years. Stock at least.
