July 26, 200520 yr Author ANYWAY...according to this: http://www.partsexpress.com/resources/indexes/sb_guide.html, the 6.5" Audax wants 0.3 cubes, does anyone have a better suggestion?as for the cross-over, how does 80Hz - 3500Hz and 3500Hz+ sound? what slope should i use?
July 26, 200520 yr What's wrong with .3 cubes? that's only like 4"x4x4. You'll need to pick all of the drivers before you decide on x-over specs. especially the slopes.

July 26, 200520 yr Author ok, now i dont know if i want to go with a sealed 6.5" or a ported 5.25"and im thinking a crossover point of 2500 Hz would be better
July 26, 200520 yr Sealed 6.5 should be good. 2500 with an 18dB/oc. slope would be sufficient if the mid could handle the higher freq. well enough.
July 26, 200520 yr Im gonna upgrade my speakers for my logitech Z560, with thesehttp://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?A...efLoc=searchoneIts kind of the El Cheapo route, but hey they should be better than the litttle logitech satilite speakers.Tom, watch out for loud music in dorms. RA's will not be your friend, at least at my school they would biotch hard. We had a JL 15 w0 on one of those parts express plate amps though
July 26, 200520 yr lol i dont plan on turning it up really loud unless i have to<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Is this your first year at school? If so, your first round of midterms will be a good canidate for turning it up loud. Granted your not in the hospital from pulling all of your hair out.
July 26, 200520 yr don't kid yourself - you're going to have that thing cranked up.I only had two complaints from my system. One from my RA (dear Lord, he put up with a lot from us...) walking by, apparently not appreciating "Layla" at 3AM. Oh well. Another was from the girl that lived above us, when I was playing the theme from Boondock Saints ungodly loud on St. Patty's Day. She said I was vibrating the mirror in her room - I was about to tell her what I could vibrate but left it alone The guys down the hall would always play rap, so somehow they would always get more complaints than I ever did.

July 27, 200520 yr Author just realized something, if i go sealed, i wont need a HPF on the mid for saving money
July 30, 200520 yr My Auras make for lovely little monitors without the need for tweets or high power. Add a small sub lowpassed at 125 and it's a great compact budget system.
July 30, 200520 yr Author How's it going? i talked to that OlogyAudio guy that's offering custom built component setshe pointed me to better drivers in my price range, and gave me a design for a cross-over for them and answered all of my questionsgreat guy to deal with
August 16, 200520 yr Author well guys, i guess i'm pulling a Steve herehavent ordered any drivers yet but the enclosures are startedthey're 0.4 cubes to 55 HzPieces cut out (actually getting good with the circ saw):Mock up for fit:4 sides together:Just missing the back, from the back: And from the front:should finish em up tomorrow and hopefully order the drivers and x-over parts soonish so there will be more pics when the time comesand i've decided not to put subs in for the first semester, dont feel comfortable with it and the funds would be more useful elsewhere
