Posted April 10, 201015 yr I'm sure there are a ton of these posts, but I figured I'd throw mine out there and get some insight. Kinetik HC1400JVC El Kameleon12" AA HavocSundown 1500DClarion DPX2251DLS Ultimate UP6iRaaMmat BXTI mainly listen to rock/metal, and I need to have high volume levels with as little distortion as possible. The thing I'm concerned about the most is the 'DLS' speakers. As far as I've searched, (just about everywhere,) they've gotten rave reviews. My prior selection was a set of Focal 165KRX2's, so the DLS setup is a huge drop in price. The cost isn't all that big of a deal, but it does play a factor. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. However, if you wanna throw out a negative opinion and not offer a suggestion, go somewhere else. I'm sure there's some other info I could add that would assist everyone in giving me advice, so just ask away.
April 10, 201015 yr Author So are you asking what is better between the DLS or Focal? No, not really. Just advice on what I should change, what I should avoid, etc. I've never heard the focals in person, but I have heard the DLS and I was quite impressed. Basically, I'm hoping someone with some extended experience with one or more of the things I listed could give me some pointers.
April 10, 201015 yr Well with what you have listed. They are all great products and with the proper install should be able to achieve your goals. I have never heard DLS drivers but have read nothing but good things about them. I have read over on DIYMA to watch out for fake versions. I have heard the Focals in person as there is a local dealer where i'm located. They are very impressive as well, a little to bright for my tastes on the tweeter but nothing a little tweaking can't fix.One suggestion I might make is to take a look at SDS sounddeading products. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi Don has done extensive product testing and comparison and came out with his own line of products. Take a look through the website and read what he has written. Very informative.

Very informative.I actually used to read that site religiously. I liked it better when he had all the testing stuff, before he started selling his own. A lot more informative then, ya know? I'm gonna stick with raam mat, because I've put it in before and I know what I'm getting into. The last thing I need is some new thing that takes me two or three days, and then I realize that I screwed it all up because I'm unfamiliar with it.

Nothing wrong with Ricks products either.
April 10, 201015 yr Nice choice of equipments. I've never heared any DLS speakers, but the Focal set is really great. This Clarion h u is beautiful. I wanted a Clarion amp because they were not too expensive, but finally I got a Subdown sax 4.50. To run my focal set. It's the first time I have matching amps in my car. (Saz1500 D for my xcon 15)Good luck with your build.

Apparently, it's one of the most customizable head units released in quite a while. I guess I'm sticking with a pattern, because I bought a Panasonic CQ-C9800U when they were brand new. (Waaaaaaay ahead of its time.) I've had that thing for a good 5 years now, and it still works flawlessly. As for the amp, I was planning on a sundown for the mids but I'm very particular about matching my amp power with the recommended power to the mids. The Clarion produces the exact 'max' wattage for the DLS set. I won't be pushing them to the limit, so I should be safe. What focal set do you have? Edited April 10, 201015 yr by e5r0311
