Posted May 10, 201015 yr this is my plan. im building a box that has 4 nightshade 15s. i designed the box on a 3d program to scale. the box is 19.5 cubes. the port is 7inches wide and 38.5 inches tall. that gives me 269.5^2 inches of port area and i need 12-16^2 inches of port area for each cube of airspace. so ill make the port area requirement. the box is tuned to 30hz. i will also be having all the walls 1.5inches thick. everything will be liguid nailed and screwed together.what you guys think?i cant seem to get the pictures to upload. i dont know how to get it from google sketchup to a image hosting site. any help with this?
May 10, 201015 yr The 12-162 inches of port area per cube is just a rule of thumb, not always right. I'd shoot for more like 300-3502 inches. I wouldn't use liquid nails at all, it's worthless when it comes to MDF use wood glue. A screen shot would probably be best for posting pictures from Sketchup.
May 10, 201015 yr Author why would you use that much port area? just wonderingforgot to mention, when i talked to jacob, i think, from sundown, he suggested those numbers Edited May 10, 201015 yr by realmofexcursion
May 11, 201015 yr Jacob's recommendation will work as well because Nightshades like smaller enclosures with a bit less port.
