Posted May 17, 201015 yr HU - kenwood kdc-hd942uComps - phoenix gold rsdsAmp - mb quart dsc 280Pic of the ampMy friend just got this stuff installed @ a shop and isn't satisfied. He told me it sounds alot cleaner but it's not louder than his stock paper cone speakers were. I told him that more than likely the shop didn't set the gain and i was gonna run through it setting it by ear. We set the high pass on the hu to 80 hzTurned the eq to natural which is flat i believeamp xover was set to full rangeamp bass eq was set to 0dbI told him to pop a retail cd in and turn it up till he heard distortion or a change in the tone..he found that @ 25 out of 35 which i figured was way too low for the hu to be distorting at.What are we doing wrong here? should the amp be set the full range? should the xover on the hu be off?
May 18, 201015 yr Author Much cleaner nowWe set the highpass to 100 since the door's aren't sealed up yet It's really lacking in the bass department, though...gotta get a sub in thereHow does this idea sounduse the current dsc280 for a ported 12" dcon and get a dsc2150 for the rsd's?
May 18, 201015 yr 320 to the sub and 150 on each door. Sounds good. More power on the comps and deaden/seal the doors would prolly help that midbass a good bit too. I would do it the other way around with the amps, but thats just the basshead in me coming out. lol
May 18, 201015 yr Really, only rarely do drivers ever get that full 600w the amp is rated for. On paper it sound good, but when installed things change.Clean and unclipped - drivers can take more power than rated, it us people that screw it up by not paying attention. lolThat said, If he didnt know what to listen out for, yes he would smoke it and quick.
May 18, 201015 yr 320 would be the safe way to go in this situation thenNice way to put it. I am sure it will be a nice set up !
