So I recently put a pioneer deck in my truck and noticed it has a feature called "Sound Retriever"...Supposedly it enhances compressed audio...

Any idea how it does that? And if it's ok to turn on? (What does it do with uncompressed audio?)

Boosts treble and bass to restore the cutoffs mu DEH-P7200HD has the same feature works best on older MP3's the newer files have more bytes increasing resolution not requiring thus function be careful you'll overheat an amp quick if used for uncompressed cd's and possibly blow speakers. I personally like wave files and will only use CD's

It's like a "Loudness" feature. I would advise not using it as explained above. It can cause the HU to send out a clipped signal to your amp(s) if your not careful.

Thanks guys, glad I asked...I have loudness off and am just using the preset EQ "Natural" for now and HPF at 100hz until I can figure out all of the EQ settings and see what sounds best\is best for my equipment.
