Hey guys. well if you don't know, I'm trying to go active on this next seutp. I'm wondering a couple things though.

1) you think audio control EQTS(2 since they are mono) and a 4XS is a good combo? I'm choosing them because the EQTS have 31 band 1/3 octave EQ, and the 4xs will support all of my speakers properly. Plus they are pretty cheap, 250 (if you can find them) for the EQTS, and about 60-80 bucks for the 4xs.

2) I need a H/U that will support my 4 way setup, for time alignment. what are some good H/U's that do this? I believe some of the new alpines have 6 channel time alignment capabilites? I'm not really diggin the glide touch though.

your thoughts plz...........

yeah that's an option as well. Or I could pick up an alpine 9835. it has a 6 channel time correction. that would work right?

Form one chevy guy to another, give Eclipse a fair shake. the top 2 in their lineup has time alignment capabilites, the flagship also gives you 10 bands of parametric eq'ing as well. Check out the model in my sig, as I am EXTREMEly pleased with this one.

i gotta second the eclipse recommendation..and the model i have isn't even that fancy, cd3434, but it's the best hu i've had in my truck.

that being said, my alpine cda7894, was an awesome piece of equipment. i had zero problems with it as well. it had time alignment, but only four channel IIRC, and better xovers then my eclipse. but it still takes second place because of the flashiness and the eclipse is alot more user friendly...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

I'm confused.

You said you want 4 way time alignment, which would necessitate 8 channels stereo, yet you keep talking about 6 channels. I don't think there is a head unit out there that is setup for a 4 way system.

NOw with that being said, you are also talking about handling the X-over and EQ duties outboard of the HU with external processsing, so why evern bother worrying about the capapbilities of the head?

If I'm missing something, let me know, but it seems to me you're trying to make this more complicated than it should be.

probably b/c i'm a n00b at car audio and don't know what I'm trying to say.

ok...let me try and explain this better. My current H/U is an eclipse 8053, yes I know that they are awesome believe me I know ;P. But I run into a problem with my new setup, the time alignment is only able to control Hi L, R, Mid L, R, and low L, R. I want to be able to control 2 kinds of mids though, mid-range and midbass. So, wouldn't I need more time alignment options then just a 3 way setup? I have 7 speakers in all, keep that in mind.

Also, the reason I'm worrying about the h/u options is because lower line H/U's don't have nice time alignment options so I will end up having to buy a nice one anyways.

does this make a little more sense? If not, I give up. lol

seriously though, I'm trying to learn I'm just jumping on a very hard project I think and need some clarification(sp)

It makes sense. You have what you need. The midbass will be controlled bia the low, the midrange via the mid, and the tweets via the high. TA is not needed for subbass, so you are good to go with what you have now.
