Posted July 14, 201015 yr Hey guys I am in meca and I am hitting a 144.9 on music with the car off because I am in AS2. I was told at the lastest show the Vinny if I were to make a so called fart box box size of 3.5 cubic feet with like two 6 in aero ports and tuning at like 50 hertz my current setup is 5 cubic ft after displacment and tuned at 40 htz I beleive. What I am wanting to know will this so called fart box get me any louder and see the bad thing is we don't have anyone with a termlab around me to test it. My set is a up memphis mojo 15d2 and I have a sundown 1200.1 with four guage and soon to be hopefully two runs of 0guage. Any help with this guys would mean alot to me and my dad. Also if you need anymore information just ask and I will tell you everything I can and the vehicle is a chevy blazer 4 door.
July 14, 201015 yr Tuning higher will likely increase your score. Assuming you're tuned somewhere in the 30s now.
July 14, 201015 yr Author Tuning higher will likely increase your score. Assuming you're tuned somewhere in the 30s now.Well i am tuned at 40 now becuase this is a box memphis gave us to build. I am just wondering what are the advantages of such a small SPL box with aero ports
July 14, 201015 yr Smaller boxes allow you to use more power because of higher mechanical power handling. Aero ports give a little better airflow. But whether a tuning frequency of 50 hz will be better or worse, I can't tell you. Some vehicles do well in the 40s, some higher.
July 15, 201015 yr Author I know on precision ports websites they say an averaged of 3 db better if used right I just wonder what do they mean used right. I understand how cut the holes for the ports but how do you seal them off with silicon or justtapIrI see alot of tape being used I just wonder if I am allowed to use to tape in my class or not???
July 15, 201015 yr If you don't tell us what class you're in, how would we know?Hard to say what the aero port site is talking about, maybe just 3 db over a standard sealed enclosure. Which, duh, now it's ported. That's the general rule of thumb on increase from sealed to ported. And they probably mean as long as box size and tuning frequency are appropriate for a ported box.
