how far does the port of your sub box need to be away from the back gate of my suv? the box would be subs up port back,thats the way my current box is setup and i have about 6" between. the new box im planning may be a lot closer,just want to know if there is a poit that is to close and affect my sound.

I think a usual rule of thumb is as wide as your port.

I like to go by ear on that . cause you can ajust it to sound the best. but like he said no smaler than the width of the port
