Posted August 23, 201015 yr Attempting to fit two 18" drivers (fi bl) in 34" width. Each driver would be mounted to an angled piece of double baffle mdf. I made a simple rendering to give a visual:Width is 34", each angled piece would be 20"x20" and angled at 45degree angle. The distance from edge of box to where the angled pieces meet would be approx 10".enclosure will be ported, most likely with aero ports for the sake of being easy.Has anyone had any experience with a enclosure like this? output wise vs conventional ported enclosures?Does the fact of the drivers being angled towards each other cause any problems, cancellation, etc.any other input?thank you Edited August 23, 201015 yr by stefanhinote
August 23, 201015 yr id be worried about the driver fitment if the baffles are going to be at such a tight angle, if you want, let me know all the measurements, and i can put the drivers in the box to expose and fitment issues that might occur.
August 23, 201015 yr find out the depth from the underside of the top ring to the bottom of the basket, then the height of the motor.Find the width of the motor and the descending width of the basket. You can then draw these measurements to see how it will fit.Note- because you are using double baffle, figure out how the sub is going to be mounted on these baffles. If it's flush mounted to the exterior baffle, then the mounting depth of the sub remains accurate. If the sub is not flush mounted, then subtract 0.75" from the mounting depth.
August 23, 201015 yr Author Thanks jbl for the offer, may take you up on that later on.and thanks for the advice shizz, always all ears when you have something to say I'm going to try a single driver and decide if I want more output, if so then ill move up to this design
August 23, 201015 yr hehe, it's always a relief when you have the agreement of going back to 1 driver what exactly is this going in?and what is the internal gross volume of that box if it was NOT angled inwards? Give me numbers as if ALL sides except for top and bottom were dual layered.
August 23, 201015 yr Author and btw that's 20.25x20 inch baffles, its not 45 degrees, its 32.5Yeah I think I figured a triangle with sides: 20" 20" and base being 34", then split triangle into two (making right triangles), then used pythagorean theorem to find height (distance from edge to center) and got 45 degrees for angles.thanks for the help
August 23, 201015 yr Author @shizz, for a the single driver I was planning on doing:It's going in a 2door 1997 jeep wrangler Edited August 23, 201015 yr by stefanhinote
August 23, 201015 yr Author oh yea, in that size, you will like it!yeah, and I may just swap drivers out for a btl and upgrade electrical down the road... just depends on how loud this gets
August 24, 201015 yr Author It looks like sketchup, but not sure if you can import models like the driver in sketchup. doesn't fit with 32.5degree angle but something more drastic say 45 and it should, but i'll try a single driver for now have you gotten metered since switching to the sealed box?

I saw one in a local comp, but I don't compete. Too much people would know and see what I have in the car ! My island is too small. Have to hide a little!!!
