September 1, 201015 yr Can you hook up a set of 2ohm speakers on the front channels and 4ohm set on the rear channels of a four channel amp?Could you give more info on the amp and speakers? Glad to see another MN'sotan around here!
September 1, 201015 yr On a very select few amps you can, but 99.9% of them you can't. Guessing based on what you might have I'd say no way in hell
September 1, 201015 yr Author I have a kicker 650.4 and I have a set of 4ohm 6.5 inch infinity speakers I want to put in the front doors and a set of 20hm 5.25 inch infinity speakers I would like to put in the back doors. Is this not possible?
September 1, 201015 yr Author The reason I want to do this is because I already have all this equipment and would be better than what I currently have installed.
September 1, 201015 yr Ditch the rear speakers and concentrate on the front stage. I would not recommend it as it will be detrimental to the amplifier and sound stage.

September 1, 201015 yr Author Thanks 98GMC for the advice after reading your comment I had no idea what you meant by the font stage so I did some research and found out what you were talking about and sounds like a good idea Im going to get rid of all the equipment and spend the money on a nicer set of speakers and amp. Do you have any advice on an amp and set of 6.5 inch speakers around $600 to $700?

Did I miss something? I haven't seen but one series of amps in close to 20 years that wasn't 2 ohm stable in stereo.

I haven't seen but one series of amps in close to 20 years that wasn't 2 ohm stable in stereo.I think we all made the mistake of thinking the op was going to run 4 ohm and 2 ohm together as in a parallel connection. (Or at least I was). You are right that there are 4 channel amplifiers that are stable to 2 ohms per channel stereo and bridgeable. Sundown being one of them.
September 3, 201015 yr I haven't seen but one series of amps in close to 20 years that wasn't 2 ohm stable in stereo. The Eclipse 34230 (2-channel) wasn't bridgeable and wasn't 2ohm stereo stable That makes #2 for you Anyways, to answer the original question yes you can run 2ohm per channel on the front 2 channels and 4ohm per channel on the rear 2 channels.

I'd be surprised if you know. Thinking back there were several others but they were never common.

The only reason I assumed that wasn't the amp you were talking about was because that was a single model not a series, and you said series If I had to guess, I would say it was something manufactured by Blade. They seemed to do some things back in the day that were less than common.

I seem to recall some of the Nakamichis being only 4 ohm stable, also.
