My latest project. Going to be the amp in my living room, driving a pair of backloaded horns (hopefully). Around 6wpc @ 8 ohms from pentode-connected EL84's.

The original amp worked, but it wasn't very pleasing on the eyes -

Ugly yellow lettering on the transformer, and the entire amp was covered in fine surface scratches and other discolorations that aren't very noticeable in that over-exposed photo. So after disassembling the tube sockets and front panel, I put masking tape over everything I didn't want painted and put several coats of Rustoleum hammered enamel over it:

The tubes I'm using with it...from left to right - British-made EZ81 rectifier, Zenith new-old-stock 12AT7 input tube, and the original black plate EL84/6BQ5 power pentodes...they seem to work for now, but might replace them with newer ones soon.

Tomorrow night I'm going to reassemble most of it, need to re-solder some connections and check to make sure all the wiring is intact. More pics as things progress...

You really need to come up with something new :)

Good question. How about STFU'ing until you do?

:D

I actually would love to try out a tube setup and see what Jim is so obsessed with, but HA is simply an expense I cannot afford. maybe some day.
