Posted September 30, 201014 yr I have always seen to use a 50-60hz sine wave note when setting gains with a DMM. And this is what I did, I downloaded a 50hz and 45hz note from realmofexcursion.com and went to set my gains.The number I was aiming for was 34 volts, and I did it first with the 50hz, and reached 34 volts. But then, out of curiosity I played the 45hz tone and the output voltage went way up. Like around 45 volts.I was not expecting this jump. I always thought the voltage would be higher in the 50-60hz range?
September 30, 201014 yr might want to see if u have somethin boosted on the amp or headunit below 50hz..Also, it's been known that amps try to put out more power in the lower range.
September 30, 201014 yr Where are your x-overs set? (infrasonic/subsonic and your low pass)Are they on? Did you have a speaker hooked to the amp when you checked the voltage?
September 30, 201014 yr if u did this with no load on the amp.. then that is why...IF you did it with a load on the amp... an increase of voltage is showing an increase of impedance rise and a drop in voltage would show a lot of current output resulting in low impedance rise.

Thought you were supposed to do it with the speaker unhooked?Subsonic set to about 30hzCrossover to about 100hz.
September 30, 201014 yr I would leave the speaker unhooked, but if the x-overs are effecting that one frequency and not the other or the bass boost is turned on (as shizzon stated) it could effecting the amps output.I'd turn them off or up/down and try again.

September 30, 201014 yr honestly, if i thought the ipod was effecting it.. it would be the higher notes, not the lower ones.
