Posted October 21, 200519 yr Hi guys im new at this and was wondering if i could get the usual help you guys give others ohh and thanks in advance. I got this system i got two performance teknique amps one is a 2000 watts 2 ch and the other is a 1600 watts one i got two kikker subwoofers 12" double coil 800watts each anda7" lcd screen and an alpine 9851 model radio plus the 7 channel pre amp and the profile crossover ok said that. Now i got everything installed correctly i even bought an extra gel 800 optima battery and a 1.5 capacitor digital now the problem is that of a scale from 1 to 10 i have to have the subwoofers volume down in like 3 cause my subwoofers amp keeps going ofthen have to turn the radio off and back on to get it working againg i dont know what to do in the amps manual it says that this amp was tested at 14.4 vd and the speakers are at 2 ohms and the amp is a two channel that can run 1000 on each channel at 2 ohms but then on the capacitor never goes up more than 14.1 and then when im playing my music with a lot of base the capacitor goes down and when it reaches 13.0 the amp goes off just the subs amp it only goes off if i put the base up high please help.
October 22, 200519 yr COuld either be a low voltage problem, or low impedance. MY guess is the latter, but I'm not truly sure how you have the setup wired?Are the subs dual 4 ohm coils wired in parallel on each channel, or do you have the amp bridged mono? If so, that amp will only be stable to a 4 ohm mono load which will necessitate a parallel/series wiring scheme. If it was a low voltage problem, I don't see why the other amp is not shutting off as well, so we can pretty much rule that out.
October 22, 200519 yr Surely voltage drop. That or, no offense, your amp is a POS. I highly doubt you're getting anywhere near 2KW, but there is still a voltage drop present. It could even be a battery problem being as how you are running two batteries, which causes even more problems if they are not very close in age and of the same design. Add to the fact your alternator had to work even harder to charge 2 batteries instead of one, and you have bigger problems. What size is the cable connecting the 2 batteries? As for the cap, sell it, it won't help you a bit.
October 22, 200519 yr Your ground is also very poor. You need a nice solid piece, then grind the paint off the metal before securing the grounds. Follow that up with some paint or silicone to protect against corrosion.

October 22, 200519 yr Cable is WAY too small. And that wiring is just asking for a fire. I suggest redoing it properly before your troubles increase and not only fry you equipment, but your vehicle.
