Posted October 23, 200519 yr If i put 2 15" SI MAG D2 In my ford explorer 96.1. how much power rms should i try to put out...2. expected numbers i would get close to...would it be loud? cus my system of 2 10's hits 141 right now.
October 23, 200519 yr No real way to answer your questions correctly. There are just too many variables. Your power could range anywhere from 600-3000 watts. All depends on the enclosure(s) and output you desire.Numbers again are questinable. Every setup will be different and application dependent. Contact Denim or Electrodynamic. Denim has much experience with the Explorers, and Nick knows quite a bit on them as well. If I remember correctly, there was a winning Explorer running the first Gen Magnums. Can't comment truthfully on the loudness either. To me, 250 watts and 1 cube sealed was loud. Might be different fro you. Knowing the capapbilities of the drivers though, and the fact that you're looking at a pair of 15s, I don't think you'll have any problem in the ouput department.
October 23, 200519 yr Hoss had four first generation Magnum 12's in his Explorer with a real-world 1200 watts (twin American Bass 1000 watt class D amps with a factory alt, factory battery, etc) of power and he was doing 152's. He did a 156 once, but his average was around 151/152. That was the loudest daily driver setup I've ever heard.
October 24, 200519 yr Author Gentleman thanks for the answers, its hard yes becuase of all the veriables. I think with 2 second gen 15"s i can hit around 150 with enuf power and a good box. Thanks and im working on talking to denim.

October 24, 200519 yr 4 claw Magnum's ported in a BIG box with a BIG port. It's on our demo car web page.
October 25, 200519 yr A friend of mine ran two of the 12-spoke old Mag 15s in an explorer. About 6 cubes tuned to ~30Hz or so... it pounded. Stupid loud setup. He initially had only 350 watts each and it was loud and upping the power only made it even more ridiculous. We pretty much matched a local shops wall setup with 24 10" subs on their meter, it was less than 1 dB difference. His rear view mirror ended up falling off and a small crack in his windshield expanded to the entire width of the glass. It was pretty much all I could do to ride with him... I bought ear plugs to do so.Nick has also been in this car, he can vouch for it
October 25, 200519 yr Author cool. I listened to 1 12" type r with lil under 500watts running to it today. and it hit a lil harder then my 2 10's how would a 12" SI Mag compare???just wondering, dont say oh u bandwagon fag.Im trying to steer clear, and i know i need better SQ when it comes to subs. cus type r sorta sounded like it wasnt all going to be there. so eyah, thanks for the suggestions so far.I was thinking of a MMATTS amp, 2000x some ohm, what are the settings of 15" si mags? (yes im checking the site right after i post)
October 25, 200519 yr I talked to a guy who reciently bought a type-r.He wasnt impressed with the SQ at all.I have never seen someone who has a mag say that
October 25, 200519 yr Author I figured, cus i hear the 1 12" over my 2 10s and well the tens sounded better but very close in loudness. i might have the same place put my amp and subs in a box, but i might not buy from them.btw i run 2 jl w3vv2 10's
