ok so im hopefully gonna get pix tomorrow and start my new build log. ill also get measurements of my hatch area tomorrow. i've got my 4ft3 box tuned at 33hz in my 93 lx mustang hatch right now and its just to big. it currently sets taking up half my backseat(folded down) and a 1/3 of the hatch area. reason for this is it wont slide back anymore in the hatch area cause the box hits rear window. saz-1500 is temporarely mounted to the backseat right behind front seats. so i need help on how to face my sub and port to get the max. loudness and airflow from my rf power hx2 15 while still being able to use my backseat for its intended purpose. also im set on 33hz for port tuning and currently have a slot port 3"w x 16"ish t (dont remember height). im wanting to go with more port area for more air flow but stay at 33hz. any help will be appreciated thanx

when I first read the title I thought you had 4 of those 15's in there and then read about the box only being 4 cubes and was thinking damn thats way too small...

anyways, go on google and search box calculator or something, or google winisd. I do know that the larger the port the longer it will be to keep the same tuning frequency. I dont remember the setup in those mustangs but is there any kind of rear deck or shelf or anything or is it completely open from the back seat to the rear of the car?

I think that putting the box far towards the back with the sub up and port back or possibly up is the popular way for hatchbacks.

i wish i had 4 or could find more of these subs cause i'd be walled off with a quickness lol.....re box calc is the closest one to being right ive found and from reading on several forums. except the torres calc but i get confused and frustrated tryin to figure it out and give up on it.....but no rear deck just open hatch area. im thinkin sub up port up and use the whole cargo area to keep the box height to a minimum so i can use a cargo area cover so nothing can be seen. cause the way it is right now even if i had tinted window just looking thru the windshield all u see past the front seats is a big ass sub and box saying "STEAL ME"!!!

You will probably be best port back, not sure if sub up is better then sub back.

I had great results with sub back, port back.

I had a eclipse 88120 ti dvc in a 1.6 c.f. tuned to 32 hertz (2" x 14" port) powered by a jl 1000/1 in my '93 cobra.

I used to have videos of the rear hatch flexing side to side enough that you could see the outside through the corners of the hatch, I was pretty impressed with the output.

I built a 4.5 cf tuned to 45 hertz enclosure for the same combo, port/sub up flush with the top of the back seat for a local spl event a long time ago.

It wasn't very impressive at all. It metered a 140.6 at 45 hertz (I had no idea what I was doing).

The 1.6 @ 32 hertz box was allot louder, to my ears

The big problem, as you probably already know, is how close the rear glass is to the back seats.

Good luck, take allot of pics, not that we're pic whores or anything.
