Posted December 2, 201014 yr Just about an hour ago, I was listening to some beats. I stepped out of the car and popped the trunk to observe the sub itself for a second, I was using the remote (if this matters). I then paused it, got back in my car, turned the volume down, and when I looked back at the HU it was black. I pressed reset, turned the car on/off. Nothing seems to work. I don't think a fuse blew because the motor for the cd changer still works. Any ideas?Kenwood KDC X794
December 2, 201014 yr I've seen that problem with my friends unit when one of his 12volt wires weren't hooked up right. Can't remember if it was the battery or the ign. one though...I'd check those out. Good luck!Edit: i'm pretty sure it was the ignition wire that wasn't hooked up right. Do you have the ign. wire running through a fusebox? or is it plugged into a harness?

December 2, 201014 yr Author I'm not even sure what I'm looking for now. I pulled the HU out and am looking at all the wires and the harness, but everything looks okay.
December 2, 201014 yr Is the faceplate removable? If so, you could have a loose/broken connection between the faceplate and the unit itself when it's connected. You say the CD motor still works, so the unit is still receiving power. There's got to be a problem elsewhere in the unit

I had thought about that, but when I press the reset button behind the faceplate, the unit waits for me to close the faceplate before I can hear the motors inside spooling up. So it at least knows when it's connected.
