this is a WHOLE new world for me.

this is what i have come up with...

ID CD1Pro's

Some nice midbass Drivers...hoping to run them at 2 ohms if possible for 100w. any suggestions?

and an EQ/crossover type thing, im really confused on how that works. Do i hook all my amps to a single EQ? do i need to run any wires to my HU? i want a cheap one, just enough to get by.

i was thinking about just using my HU's crossovers to mess with everything, or should i buy xternal ones? but im really lacking in the EQ part... i dont think a 3-band would cut it with the horns

all of this is going to be thru one 4 channel amp.

any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated

Everything goes through a single EQ. You dont need to run anything to the EQ, just use the RCA's you have and connect them to the EQ. It should have xovers built in

3 bands definetly isnt cutting it.

kay that cleared a bunch up...

now any reccomendations on a simple eq, like the best bang for the buck?

as well as a 100w 2 ohm stable midbass?

No idea about bang for buck EQ's

Midbass....eD's ?

my dad wants to use the eD's for his burban :)

he saw the size of the enclosure and wanted it.

i was thinking along the lines of that new 6.5" Adire driver

Well, tell him he owes me money for it.

New Adire driver= one on ca.com ?

ya ya for 60 bucks, you cant go wrong :)

just gonna build some new kicks sans the tweeter.

If you are talking about the mids Feandil and Ology are doint; Those aren't "Adire" speakers....those are "Ology Audio" speakers being built by Adire (same as Soundsplinter Subwoofers being built by TC Sounds).

You are probably going to end up doing separate EQ and active crossover for the horns. You'll want the crossover to be capable of 24db/oct, and you will want a lot of EQ ability. If you want an all-in-one unit, something like the Audiocontrol DQX would work great if the xover points work.

For mids.....2ohms are decently rare. RE XXX6.5, Image Dynamics CX62, if you can find Image Dynamics IDQ8 in dual 4ohm.

i was looking at the Image dynamics 31 Band EQ, and i found out that you needed one per speaker. That Audiocontrol looks very very nice...i assume it will handle the mids horns and my sub right?

are there any other reccomendations for the eq/crossover?

You do not need one per speaker.

They are mono EQ's, so you need one per side (i.e. one for the left side, one for the right side), but you do not need one per speaker.

ID has a nice xover that will work with them aswell.....but they are fairly pricey for all three pieces (two EQ's and one xover).

That DQX will work.....but from reading the manual it doesn't look extremely flexible, as it appears you can not overlap or underlap crossover frequencies.

Or you could buy a headunit with all of the processing you'd need....such as the Eclipse 8053 (can be had for under $300 shipped if you look in the right places), Pioneer Premier 860MP, etc etc

How much are you looking to spend on processing?

as little as possible the cheapest there is... like i said im new to this sort of thing so i dont know the prices and stuff.

I'm not looking for Absolute perfect SQ, just enough to get me by with a DD. So i guess something better than the 3 band in my HU. i would prefer to have a built in crossover with the EQ so i dont have more wires being run, and i would also like to keep my current HU.

MY advice, keep it simple. Start basic and upgrade from there. Why complicate the system if you don't have to.

I've found it easier to integrate new components based upon my NEEDS. If it doesn't NEED complexity, don't use it. Many times a simple 7 band eq will do the trick. You may need more, may not.

yea.... its true, lol compared to other systems i dont have midbass. with the horns, i will be able to make my kicks smaller, have more midbass as well as have the ease of installation with the Horns (i have a big dash)

a simple 7 band is fine! i just need one with a crossover.

ill just crossover with my HU... so any EQ reccomendations?

If you are running active out of your headunit, then whatever EQ you use would have to have one input for each output from your headunit (for example; 3-way active out of headunit, EQ would need atleast 6 input channels).

Only EQ's I know of that have that ability is some of the audiocontrol pieces.
