I was planning on upgradingg my electrical by replacing my main batt. I was thinking about a batt along the lines of a d6500. Max amps are about 3900 and ah is about 80. Should my stock alt, 110 amps, be able to charge the d6500 without a problem? Im just looking for a theoretical answer. Thanks for the help

yes

nobody knows... depends on how much strain you're putting on the electrical system. Will it charge the battery as you're sitting in a parking lot demoing your 2,500 watt stereo with lights, heater and windshield wipers going? I doubt it. Will it charge the battery while you're cruising 65 mph down the highway during the day with no AC/heat and the stereo turned down? Probably.

Well my system is below 2000w total. I thought Id go with a battery that could support a larger current draw rather than a battery that will just barely get the job done.

If you're just asking what size battery to get, I'd get the biggest one I could fit/afford.

Might be fine and obviously make sure the BIG 3 is done... or at least the BIG 2.. :)

Welll I was pretty set on getting a battery that can support well above 2000 watts so I wasnt asking which battery to get. So, assuming that Im not giving any demos with the heat, lights, and my wipers on, I should be good with my stock alt? Because I dont have the money for a ho alt at the moment. Even if my alt was a little weak for the battery would it still behoove of me to get the larger battery?

I'd vote yes.... Get the battery charged up at like an autozone or pepboys before you drop it in for sure... Don't want that heavy load while trying to start up your vehicle...

Yessirr but just barely. If i wanted to play it safe I could always go with a d3400 which is basically the same size as my die hard right noww. A d3400 would still provide sufficient power for my current system.
