What's up SSA? Hoping I could get some advice from you guys. I need a sub for my boat, but I'm just not sure which one will be best for my application. I like everything I've read about sundown so I'm leaning in that direction.

I had an 12" Alpine type R powered by an Alpine MRP500 in a crappy best buy enclosure...I took it out, and looking for more

The new sub(s) primary purpose is to get girls to dance on the boat. Most of the music played will be fist pumping club music, e.g., house, hip hop, and some rock.

I want the sub to be loud and have a violent punch if that's possible. I'm installing 8 Exile SX65c's 6.5" speakers powered at 100w RMS @ 2ohm each. I had 4 SX65c's last summer powered at 50w each and it was pretty loud, so I need a sub that will keep up with the additional power and speakers.

The sub(s) will be powered by an Exile X1200.1. I hear the amp is underrated, the owner of Exile said "X1200.1 bench out about 1350 watts, but I have seen units in the 1400 watt range... With square wave, burpabble SPL power around 1600 watts or so... "

Amp specs:

1200@1 ohm

800@2 ohm

400@4 ohm

- Class D high efficiency design

- Stable down to 1 ohm

- 24dB crossover

- Subsonic filtering

- 4 gauge power and ground connectors

- Fuse size: 100A

- Multi amp strappable

- Remote bass control compatible

For power I have 2 Trojan 6v batteries wired in a series dedicated to the amps and head unit only. It's 315ah total.

The sub(s) will be going under the driver console. I don't want a sealed enclosure. I'm not sure what the optimal direction to face the subs would be, but most other boats I see the sub is firing outside, not faced in or to the side.

I don't know how to build boxes, but a good friend of mine is excellent with woodworking so I'll just need to give him a cut sheet...which I'm hoping I can find after I decide on the sub. I plan to have the enclosure built with MDF and then Line X the box after its complete, but then I wondered about the vent opening and the Line X...kind of confused there.

Due to space limitation I'm not sure which sub I should get. I have 23" height, 20" depth, and 18" of width, BUT the 18" gradually tapers down to 13" in the rear. I'm not sure what will match up with my amp since. I was thinking about 1 SA-10, 1 SA-8, 2 SA-8's if it will fit, possibly the new x-8 I read about, and not opposed to a 12", but again, I'm not sure if it will fit with the proper enclosure.

below is a picture of the boat. It will be going under the driver console. I also included an awful picture I made of the dimension I have to work with... any suggestions would be appreciated!
