Hi guys,

i have a trunk car (2004 Camry) and right now my setup is sub/port back. I have experimented with placing the box closer to the front of the trunk (closer to the back seat) or further back (near the rear bumper), so far my car rattles less and sounds louder when closer to the bumper..

Question I had was, would I gain anything if I flipped my box so that the port/sub was firing into the cabin? if I am listening to the sub at high volume I usually fold the rear seats down to allow more air to move... Wanted to know if anyone with my car or a similar setup has tried this and what results they had before I manhandle a 100lb box and re-wire my amps etc..

If it's not sealed from the trunk, it's not worth it. I have tried it and from what i experienced, i had a peakier response and i lost loudness. Yes you do lose most of the trunk rattle, but it wasn't worth it in my mind. I am curious to how it would perform if i did seal it off though...

I think if sealed properly you would notice a gain.

Same car here.... I have noticed louder output facing my port/sub to the trunk lid with the back of the enclosure against the seat but that creates the most rattles... With the port/sub facing the cabin with the back of the enclosure it was the loudest I could get without much rattle... Not as loud as the first one mentioned though...

I did add CLD tiles to the trunk so it is not from panel resonance really but from the rear deck cover(rear dash) and the actually lights in the rear.... I might have to put some RTV silicone in the seams of the lights so they don't rattle... Also on the left hand side of the trunk there is that "air way" that rattles alot, not sure how to handle that...

Have thought about sealing it off but would like a less permanent install in case I need space... which oddly I need now since I will be moving out of my apartment soon....

I was thoroughly dissatisfied with the "traditional" trunk setup of port/sub forward or backward. I have since changed to a box design of a flat box with sub up and port in different directions. This is just for my car, but I noticed increased output and significantly more lows since the switch to this style (plus I can easily fit boxes of bigger volume in my trunk).

I have my box in my 05 camry sealed to the pass through sub and port firing forward into the cabin. Port is on driver side
