Posted March 26, 201114 yr All 3 of these can be found at Home Depot. The goals i'm looking for is the best stiffness, yet no heavier than MDF (96lbs).All sheeting would be 3\4".I read and read about these sheets and i can't get any concrete info about them...I would have also done a vs Arauco but i cannot get that around here.
March 27, 201114 yr http://hoganhardwoods.com/Default.htmThis is where I get all my lumber. They list a lot of technical info on just about everything. Red Oak is heavier than both southern and yellow birch. And is a harder wood. However just because it is denser I'm not sure if it's tensile strength is stronger or not.
March 27, 201114 yr None of those are void free at HD, at least not mine. Considering I'd just use MDF.
March 27, 201114 yr Author I'm bout to get home and checkout this site. Yes, even though Birch grade-C isn't void-free, some stiffness rating showed it was still stronger than mdf... unless the rating was for grade-A? I don't know
