April 4, 201114 yr Author I would love to never go below 13v once i get the new alt. And yes my build has plenty of things I want ( lowering springs, HID's 1/0 upgrade, front lip, Rims, FULL tinted windows including brow.. Angel eye headlight housings ) but hey.. My car audio is first alt then ill figure out the rest.
April 4, 201114 yr i dont think 15+v is healthyPlus alot of amps will go into protect if there that high.
April 4, 201114 yr i dont think 15+v is healthyPlus alot of amps will go into protect if there that high.OP's amp has a operating voltage of 10v-16v. So no, it will not go into protect with 15v.Charging a 12v battery at 15v-15.5v, not sure if it lessens the batteries life span. That would be a good question for the battery manufacturer. I'd get xs power batts and then just ask Nathan
April 4, 201114 yr Author Oh true, I forgot the Sundown amp can handle up to 16v so no worries for me I guess.I am so excited that I keep posting about all this over and over lol. I wish I could stay up for a week straight just so the day of ordering it would get here faster.
April 4, 201114 yr Author Aw bro that would suck to have an amp that cuts off at "good voltage" IMO. 14.6 is beast voltage I think Cuz then when I crush the earth with young jeezy or something for fun, my car battery light wont come on. ( It has never done that.. It was just a cool example I thought lol )
April 4, 201114 yr well my regulator doesn't allow my voltage above 14.4vI think that's pretty standard.unless you have an externally regulated system.
April 4, 201114 yr Author well my regulator doesn't allow my voltage above 14.4vI think that's pretty standard.unless you have an externally regulated system. That's not bad at all. 14.4 is amazing. Believe me, I would love to have mine set at 14.4.
April 4, 201114 yr well my regulator doesn't allow my voltage above 14.4vI think that's pretty standard.unless you have an externally regulated system. Most regulators are set to 14.4v, that is standard. Most high output alternators are set around 15v, they deem that's the highest they can safely go on standard 12v system.Or you can do vcms and adjust it and what not, but that's really pointless unless serious competing.
April 4, 201114 yr My stetsom cuts off at 14.6New DD amps cut off at 15.4v. lol A real amp makes power down at 11v-12v. My van with stock alt charges up to 14.8v after driving a while. lol
April 4, 201114 yr Author Oh, interesting Is that all setup ahead of time when I get a DC alt? I mean is it basically take off stock, plug in HO alt and mount and then ta da, done and everything else is already set up for me like the voltage reg. and all that jazz
April 4, 201114 yr I would think so if its internally regulated the regulator is already set. https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/1997~Honda~Civic~1.6L-I4-D16/13649-180-hp.htmllooks like they are set at 14.8vNewer cars are pcm controlled
