Posted April 5, 201114 yr So if you looked at my build log then maybe you can get an idea. If not then to fill you in i have a RE SX-12 in a ported box 2.0^3 at 35hz and after setting gains i am just let down by the lack of serious bump. I'm looking for a recommendation on to what route I should go to get more bump from my back seat area. It's a convertible and it's been said that a smaller enclosure may assist my needs. I have a pair of alpine type-r 12's gaining dust that would be good for a smaller enclosure if that helps any. Anyhow thanks fellas.
April 5, 201114 yr what amp and head unit u runnin? i've got a single fosgate power hx2 runnin on one coil cause i killed the other when i got a saz1500 which im still usin. i had it in a 4ft^3 tuned at 33hz bolted in place of of my backseat of a 76 caprice. it really impressed me and made ppl bail out. but then i got my current ride which is a 92 hatchback mustang. same sub, same amp, cheap eclipse h/u with no sub outs also hooked to a early 90's pioneer eq for its sub crossover. now my main problem is i needed my backseat in this car so i hacked my big box to where it would fit in the hatch and its sealed maybe 2ft^3. my sub isnt supposed to be run sealed, got a shitty h/u, and stock electrical. its maybe half as loud as b4 when it was ported and on a good pioneer h/u. i seen ur install and ur box looks ok depending on the rest u should get pretty loud. if i were u i'd put the type AAAAR's in a ported box on a good amp and ou'll be louder then the re also build a box dont use prefab boxsif u want a bigger ALT. but dont wanna dish out the money for a h/o alt, find a 5.0 stang and it has a higher amperage alt and run ur big 3srry for the long ass post
April 5, 201114 yr I'll be sending Bassahaulic this way.I first saw this posted signed out so I couldn't see the replies, and I just knew you posted something like this. Going to be hard to get a convertible loud.Sir, calm down please. So if you looked at my build log then maybe you can get an idea. Anyhow thanks fellas.Whomever said you needed a smaller enclosure needs a good slap.I would take the two Type R 12"s, fire them and the port forwards on around 2,000w. Something like this. This is 2 db Drive 12"s on 2,000w in my GF's car, that does a 148db at 38Hz. Video..
April 5, 201114 yr Author pretty sweet bassahaulic how do you have that box sitting in there. Btw do you think the type-r's could handle 2000w I mean they only rated for 500w rms. One more thing how big a box should I go. I know what the recommendations are but what would really work for this type of set-up? Thanks a ton
April 5, 201114 yr It's sitting on a custom made rear seat delete. Maybe not 2,000w if they are going in a large enclosure. But I'm pretty confident in their ability to take 750rms all day.Ill post more later, I'm on my phone.
April 6, 201114 yr Author i'll get back to you with some accurate measurements for my rear seat space but in the mean time what would you recommend as a box for the two alpines to be in?
April 7, 201114 yr i'll get back to you with some accurate measurements for my rear seat space but in the mean time what would you recommend as a box for the two alpines to be in?I would have to look up the specs of the woofers and amp. Get me measurements first though.
April 7, 201114 yr Author There is a hump in the middle that i will probably build a bracket that will have the box sitting a little higher than it.Amp SpecsAQ1200dFrequency Response: 20Hz—250HzSignal to Noise Ratio: 100dbLow Pass Crossover: 24db / OctLow Pass Crossover Range: 20Hz—200HzSubsonic Crossover Range: 10Hz—50HzInput Sensitivity: 0.2V—8VOutput Master / Input Slave Connection: YesWorking Voltage: 8V---16VEfficiency @ 4 ohm: 84%Damping Factor: Less than 150Fuse Rating: 40Amp X 3 (Linked 240 Amp)Output Power 14.4V @ 1% THD: 510X1 @ 4 ohm,870X1 @ 2 ohm,1200X1 @1 ohmOutput Power 14.4V @ 5% THD: 1470X1 @ 1 ohmDash Mounted Remote: IncludedDimensions: 12.75"(L)x9.27"(W)x2.35"(H)Sub specsAlpine Trpe-R 1212"500W/1000wFrequency Response: 25hz-500hzDisplacement: 0.071ft^3Nominal Impedence: 4ohm + 4ohmSensitivty Spl(SPL@1W/1M): 85dbD.C.
