The past few weeks I have been going to a few comps here and there and noticing a lot of talk about what to tune your box to to get the highest SPL.

Just looking to get opinions on here since there are a lot of competitors.

Me personally, Im running 2 DC level 5 15's box tuned to 40hz @ 7.7 cubes doing 149.4 @ 53 hz........Not sure if i could tune it down to get better results or to tune it higher.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I personally would think you could do 150 or a little over. What amp, alt, and how many batteries and box tune iv heard ppl putting then at about 40 45 for spl

Test, test, test. No one can tell you a certain frequency that will be the best for your vehicle.

If you're looking to do a pure burp box, use aeroports and adjust lengths to find what works best. If you're peaking at 53hz right now, then you can probably tune to 45hz to get even better results. And if you're not able to push your subs to their mechanical limits with the power you're currently running, a larger box will benefit you as well.

Yeah the testing is about to begin, got a buddy that just got a term lab, gonna add another port to tune it to 45hz and see what happens.

Gonna have to go with adding more power really, I'm running Stock and can't go any bigger with the box. But Im gonna add this 3rd port to tune it up to 45hz. If it doesn't help I plan on just rebuilding a few times and mess with port/sub locations and tuning. I hope by the time I get this done I will be in the 150's or better.......60's dont sound bad eather :woot:

Adding to what you are saying, 45hz is a good starting point. Wouldn't be unusual to be tuned above the peak frequency a couple hertz.

X eleventy bajilion on the larger box. Biggest improvement I've done for my spl setup.

Less ports and larger diameter also helps.
