Posted May 9, 201114 yr Hey guys, Finished up my big three today... Still having some light dimming issues. Heres what i have...Saz-1000d at 1ohm2 sa-12s d40/1 from alt + to battery +0/1 from engine block to battery -0/1 from battery - to chassis4ga from battery + to saz1000d4ga from amp ground to chassisAnyone have any opinions?
May 9, 201114 yr actually, it would really hurt if u short the power to ground.. but don't do that!I'm sure your light dimming isn't bad as in crazy voltage drop but would never hurt to find out what you are dropping to.I'd say, if you are dropping at or below 12.5v.. get another battery back there.

May 9, 201114 yr Sitting in park in my driveway it drops to around 12.8.If you have halogens, they are very sensitive to voltage changes regardless of how much... 0.1v could make them flicker somewhat...

May 9, 201114 yr well, it's obvious you are exceeding your alternator for 2 reasons..One, you are idling when you are jamming..Two, you are dropping below 13v.Try and see if your voltage drops when you got the car revved to 2,000rpm
May 9, 201114 yr Author well, it's obvious you are exceeding your alternator for 2 reasons..One, you are idling when you are jamming..Two, you are dropping below 13v.Try and see if your voltage drops when you got the car revved to 2,000rpmWill check that out tomorrow. I am assuming that if that is the case, adding a battery would just be a bandaid. And the correct fix is a ho alt correct?
May 9, 201114 yr Author yesCould there be any problems with the install?Or does this fit into place with a stock 110 amp alt?
May 9, 201114 yr Seems like too much of a load on the alternator and it can't keep up with the demand.
May 9, 201114 yr i seriously don't believe u need an upgraded alt...Realistic power wired to 1ohm load shouldnt be pullin more than 70A at the maximum off that amp and that's split second draw...Just keep it revved while someone else measures voltage. As long as you stay above the low 13s, adding a battery is fine.In terms of fixinf your light dimming, i can't answer that as i don't know how sensitive those lights are.
May 9, 201114 yr Author Okay great, thanks a lot for the responses everyone.Shizzon i will do that tomorrow, and post up some results.
May 9, 201114 yr 70 amps for the car audio, then like 15 for the lights, then whatever the engine uses, plus all the other electrical being used by the car......It's cutting the amperage draw pretty close.Do all the math of what the whole car is using and you'll see exactly what you current draw is, not just the stereo components.
May 9, 201114 yr Well if you own a trailblazer iv been told on trailblazer forms it does not matter if you get an ho alt battery or what ever you will always have that prob no matter what you do its a car design flaw.
May 9, 201114 yr Author what xs power or kinetic battery would be good swap for a 2007 altima 2.5 sedan?

Or even upgrading your stock batt before going an getting a HO alt.
