my head unit has a option where i can download songs onto a sandisk card and insert the card into the head unit, my question is do sandisk cards work with songs in wma format? or only mp3 format?

You are asking the question WAY wrong.

Sandisk is a manufacturer that makes flash media and drives.

As a storage device, you can store ANY type of file as long as the disk structure is formatted for such use.

In your case, wma files can be stored on any modern file system.

It's not up to the storage device but rather can your headunit support WMA?

Something else you need to keep in mind-

Some headunits are VERY picky about HD flash media.

HD or HC stands for High Density or High Capacity.

I believe 8GB and larger falls under this category.

Typical name for this on retailer sites is= SDHC.

Contact manufacturer or read manual for maximum suggested media size and what formats are supported for your head unit.

yes the headunit plays cd's with songs in wma format but it also accepts sd cards, would i be wise to go with a sdhc version or is a regular sd card fine? i know when using for pictures the hc is better but would the music sound more clear with the hc type card over the regular sd card?

hehe, the cool thing about accessing music through DATA is there is no audible difference based on how the music is stored digitally on a hard drive.

i know this answer has many different variables depending on how long the song is, but im trying to figure out how many songs say a 10gb sd card would hold? i currently have around 2500 songs i need to throw on a card and am thinking of going with a 32gb card..any opinions?

Are u serious?

Why can't you just select all of them and right click, hit properties and LOOK and see how much space it is using.
