Hello i am in the market for front stage, ive been drooling over CDT for years and finally wanna make the leap and buy some, please give your opinions, ill be using (2) sa-8's.....would you rcommend a 3 way CDT set consisting of a 6.5" / 4" / 1" on a sundown 125.2, or would you recommend i do a 2 way set which would be a 4" / 1", and a separate strong CDT 6.5" midbass, >>>point being do you think ill realy need a strong 6.5" midbass with only 8" subwoofers, or a 3 way comp set with slightly less power would be sufficient?

vehicle? budget? current gear (head unit and amps, etc)?

vehicle? budget? current gear (head unit and amps, etc)?

2007 Chrysler 300, budget is around $400 for front stage, current gear is dead, i had a 2 way Focal polykevlar 6.5 set, have a Kenwood hu, amps will be a Sundown 1500d for subs and either a Sundown 125.2 for the 3 way component set or a Sundown 100.4 for if i do a comp set + midbass

unless your current hu is capable of active processing then 400 isnt enough to go active. as far as passive 3way sets go, bravox has been popular recently. here is a link to a member's build

this set in within your budget-bravox

btw i have no experience with high end 2 way or 3 way component set... i would recommend an active set up

Typically the passives for 3 ways are less than stellar for normal installations, if you are willing to really spend some time making sure that the drivers are really close together in the kicks or something you can make them work, but otherwise I'd recommend just a 2 way setup. You can surely compensate by running the SA's higher in frequency to help the midbass, this will pull the stage back but with your budget and goals this may be the best compromise.
