Posted December 10, 200519 yr Yep, so I just got done with my box for an Eclipse Ti 12" and wow, I could not be anymore frustrated or upset. Just wow.........It sounds like complete as*. Box is 1.25^3 net, and the sub is getting about 300 watts. It just sounds so, punchie way way way way to punchie not enough deep bass. I don't care that I lost output, I expected that but for the love of god when you go to sealed it's suppose to be SQ dam*it. I dunno, I'm about to go get some polly fill and see if that helps the problem sorry for the childish post but I'm just really upset right now.

Check your amp and crossover, I had a similar instance where I couldn't figure out why the box sounded difffernt and it turns out I accidently pushed a xover button on my amp without knowing it.polyfill should help

On my 8053 I have the sub set at 63hz for LPF, and on the amp I have LPF on 63 hertz but I dunno because the sub doesn't seem to play very low notes like it should (I'm going off a freinds system that's sealed). I don't have bass boost, or a loud, and I have the gains set properly. Something could be set up wrong though, I just haven't found it yet. also flakko, I don't have the room to make a 4^3 enclosure in a single cab truck. I just got back from a long drive and the sub sounds a little better, it is a lot cleaner that's for sure, but still just on some songs it's just real punchy and I don't like that.
December 11, 200519 yr Why are you adding to low pass filters together? Do you need a 24dB slope at 63Hz? I'd just use the decks.Have you played a freq. sweep to see if there is a particular tone or range of tones that are causing the "punchy" sound? Knowing that would be helpful, maybe your box is fixable.Would like to say that I don't know crap about that Eclipse sub but your box would hold an Rlp nicely!
December 11, 200519 yr Author well, whenever I put the amps cross over on "off" the sub loses output it seems like, which is really weird. And on my deck the slope is 24DB at 63hz. I'll play a sweep to find the punchy sound and get back with you. lol RLP's do look nice, but I just spent a lot of money on this Ti and want to see it at full potential.

December 12, 200519 yr Ummm, they aren't very efficient subs. You need A LOT more power first off. This won't necessarily help the LFE...but the LFE it does have will obviously be more apparent. Also, you don't have any sort of SSF set do you? I'd also suggest stuff your box with polyfill...should help some. NG
December 12, 200519 yr Check for the SS filter like noah suggested. Also as stated they do need quite a bit of power to get them moving. Is your box behind the seat on in the place of the console? Behind the seat I know for a fact you have 2cu.ft. to play with. Make your box closer to 1.75-2cu.ft. to make up for the lack of low end and lack of power. Those TIs arent shallow subs, you may need to make a console and extend it behind each seat for a little more airspace. I'm on AIM if you need me.
