Posted June 17, 201114 yr Hey everybody! I was just is there a diferrence in power handling between a vented enclosure and a sealed enclosure. I just purchased a DC Audio Level 3 15 with the Level 4 coil option, dual 1 ohm. I'm running a Hifonics HFI 1500d @ 2 ohms 1000rms. I was going to use a 2.25^3 ft. enclosure in a Nissan Altima or could I get away with running that much power in a vented enclosure on the sub? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thermal power handling is another story, but that is entirely up to you and how hard you are on it.
June 17, 201114 yr Author I'm sorry the 2.25^3 ft enclosure is sealed. I ordered the upgraded coil to run more power than the 600 rms thats recommended. So would the Level 3 with the Level 4 coil be ok on 1000 watts rms in a sealed enclosure?
June 17, 201114 yr Isn't 2.25 cubic feet a little small for a 15 ported? Won't that sound like ass?Edit: nevermind you meant sealed Edited June 17, 201114 yr by theluker69
June 17, 201114 yr 2 cubic feet is recommended for them, low end and efficiency will increase with the larger enclosure, just remember, you have a gain on your amp for a reason, use it correctly and you won't have any problems.
