Posted June 23, 201114 yr Is there a 1000w sub that is all around better then the Fi Bl in its price range? Post anything you may have had experience that you think would beat it in output and sound quality. This is just to see whats in my league or better.
June 23, 201114 yr A used BTL? I mean, its all prefrence man, its gonna be hard to help you without knowing what you like?
June 23, 201114 yr I'm gonna try and set your hopeful answer right...Performance AND sound quality.. that's hard to do..I've never heard a BL in person but i do know that FI focuses on sound quality first, numbers second...if u know what i mean. With that in mind.. it's hard to answer your question.I don't disrespect FI's goals as they are what they should be but i think you may be expecting to find something that may not exist.Basically, if you find something that fits this thread, then your definition of sound quality doesn't equal FI's or mine or others who did not post...
June 23, 201114 yr Author guess your right, just was wondering what are some other subs that are 1000 watts that will stand up with the bl, for instance will a xcon get as loud or louder then a bl or will the sound quality be better but then how much louder would it be
June 23, 201114 yr There is no such thing as an "all around better" sub. Compromises will always have to be made, you have to choose which ones.
June 23, 201114 yr You will not find a new comparable sub with the same goals at the same price due to the fact when you buy FI you are buying directly from the manufacturer with no retailer mark-up.
June 23, 201114 yr The bl is a great driver, sounds good, gets loud, just buy it already I loved mine.
June 23, 201114 yr Author well i already have one, just debating of if i want to get another bl or sell it and get 2 different subs, i want this setup to satisfy me for a long time because i dont have alot of money to try diff stuff which id love to be able too lol, if it were me with money id get 2 12" zcons and call it a day but just cant. Just dont know if i want to experience new stuff or just get louder with same sound
June 23, 201114 yr Author its in a 05 honda civic, i have about 33in long 16in high and depth is very big maybe 26-28in, i understand its all about install dependant, box will be built by a builder here on ssa, power will be enough and electrical will be up to par
June 23, 201114 yr Author both are facing the trunk with the back seats down Edited June 23, 201114 yr by bakedboy08
June 23, 201114 yr Are you happy with the way the BL sounds? If you like your BL, but want more output why not just get another? IIRC you have an AQ2200 and a D1 BL right now so your all set to add another.
June 23, 201114 yr Do you know what kind of sound you are looking for? What is the BL missing, is it just the lows you crave more of?
June 23, 201114 yr Author i loved the sound of my w7 but just wasnt loud enough for me which is why i got the bl. Ill probably just get another bl, but in the back of my head theres this itch that says, try 1 15' ZCON, But then id say man i woulda been louder with 2 12" bls, but id have a different sound. The whole 1 sub setup amazes me but 2 will always be better. Do you guys think a 15" zcon would be sufficiantly louder then my 12" bl, and then how much louder would i be with 2 12" bls compared to 1 15" zcon to the ear
June 23, 201114 yr Youll get about 50 more sq in of port area with the 12's175sq in to about 225 sq inidk really know how much louder that will be but it seems like a big difference
June 23, 201114 yr The difference between two 12s ported and a single ported 15 in optimal enclosures will be minimal. In theory the 12s have more cone area and would be slightly louder, but in all likelyhood you won't hear the difference.
June 23, 201114 yr Author so if i were to go with 1 15" is like the same as 2 12's is what your saying? how come people dont just get 1 15 then since it would be cheaper. Im thinking it depends on what subs your comparing. take 2 12" kenwoods compared to a dd 9515. The 9515 woul smash it in output. or 2 12" bls compared to 1 15" power aucoustik, the 2 12" bls would kill. So the zcon is that good to keep up with 2 12" bls then?
June 23, 201114 yr You could always try an lms-r 15 or 2 12s IMO they sound amazing and dig deeeeeeeeeeep
June 23, 201114 yr A single 15" Zcon on double the power in an optimal setup will be a good bit louder than your single BL 12" on half the power, a pair of BL 12"s on 2x power will also give you a good bit more output. The difference in output of the pair of 12" BLs compared to a single 15" Zcon will be minimal. Maybe you will notice the difference, maybe not. If you like the sound of the BL you have now, why not just add another? If you want to try something new,
June 23, 201114 yr Author alright so your saying the difference between 2 12" bls and a 15" zcon will be minimul, which is what i was looking for because i do wanna try out something new and iv heard good stuff about it so far. just didnt want to buy it and then be lie oh wow this thing doesnt even get loud, although it will be gettin twice the power that im running now. I think imma have to try one of these out, just wish i didnt have to sell my bl to do it haha
June 23, 201114 yr Well you can't compare 2 12 kenwoods to a DD 9015 LOL. What were saying is 2 12s will be equally loud as a single 15 in optimal enclosures with the same power. I did choose a single 15 because its cheaper and the enclosure was a little smaller (that's not always the case). Lots of people go that route. Adding another bl or a zcon and ruinning your amp at the full 2200W will give you a noticeable increase in output assuming you have the right electrical and enclosure.
June 23, 201114 yr Author ok thanks for the explaination i just wasnt too sure for a single 15 held up against 2 12's on same power and for forth. Havnt really heard to many sub setups in my town because the people i hang out with arnt really into that yet but im pushin it for em lol If only i could hear it for myself id never have to ask these questions, its just always good to know a little about what your into
