Okay let's say I buy an alt from a company and I'm not happy with the performance (idle output) of the alt can I send it to a different company and have them make it basically one of their alternators?

Anyone?

Why exactly are you wanting to do this? Include some specifics like which company, what alt, etc. and maybe someone will know

why dont you just buy one with good idle output

The alt is from Ohio generator and it's a 275 amp alt.

first off, contact alt specialist about if u can put a smaller pulley on it.

IF that doesn't work, rebuilding internals of another's alt is limited to the case volume internally and how things are setup in there.

Purchased a ohio 275amp alt Also...Had same problem you need smaller pulley and makeshure you ADD a ground to the alternator for better current flow.

Had the same problem with my ohio alt no idle output put smaller pulley and helped out a tone but wouldnt go full tilt at idle eiither.

I dont know what alt does go full tilt at idle..
