Posted July 26, 201114 yr Since a week or two, my Pioneer head unit has some problems. Sometimes the "face" doesn't respond, as if there is no power to it. It can happen with the music playing or with the h u off. If I unplug and the plug in the car fuse for the h u, eveything starts working again. If I press the reset button on the h u it starts working again, but I loose some settings. Do you know (or understand) what is happening ?Can it be a simple fix, or will I need to buy another h u ?Please help !!!
July 26, 201114 yr My guess is that the little set of contacts that connect the faceplate to the headunit aren't lined up right or aren't connecting well.Obviously if the fuse portion is super repeatable then my guess is wrong, but I figure that was just something you checked at the same time of moving the faceplate around.
July 27, 201114 yr Author Moving the faceplate around never works. No result. Only ways to make the h u works are by playing with the fuse or reseting the h u. It does it randomly. If it can be repaired I will do it and will sell this Pioneer.
July 27, 201114 yr You sure you need to unplug/plug the fuse or is just wiggling that wire solving it? Curious if it is the switched on or always on.
July 27, 201114 yr is it connected to a ipod? if it is your ipod might of froze lol happens to mine all the time
August 1, 201114 yr Author No connection to anything. I just play cd and fm radio. When the face plate doesn't want to work, I need to reset the h u : it is easier than playing with the under hood fuse.I can have this problem when I try to turn on the h u, or sometimes the face plate won't work even with the music playing(can't turn the volume down or anything). It looks like a face plate problem, but moving and playing with it never restart anything.I hope this can be fixed for cheap ! I'm not ready to buy another h u
August 1, 201114 yr My 880 does this often. Well, it did. The contacts on the back of the faceplate were the problem. I would just shut the car off, then turn back on. Thoroughly clean your contacts with a pencil eraser, then wipe them with rubbing alcohol. Attach the faceplate, perform a reset and you should be good to go.
