Posted September 3, 201114 yr alrighty lets try this again..earlier i noted that i was looking for new 6.5 mid drivers. luck as i would have it my drivers side 6.5 went out the other day... so ive been looking around and the cadence cwm6 componets have caught my eye. however, im not entirely sure if they will fit due to the size of the magnet. aswell as depth... here is what i have to work with...here are the window tracks that make me question if they will fit.. just shy of 2 1/2 inchesand here is the MAX depth before the window.. just a little past 3 incheswith spacers maybe its possible to push the speakers forward?it almost seems i have about 3/4 of an inch to push forward..i want to keep whatever i end up getting in the door pockets and not build fiberglass molds or cut/trim anything.the components i have now are 2.5" in depth, but the magnet fits by the window track that i have in the pictures.the cadence 6.5 are 3" deep as said on their site... so maybe i could get spacers to give me a bit more room?if not do you have any suggestions that would fit my doors? i would like to just replace the drivers if possible, but im open to your suggestions.thanks for reading!! September 3, 201114 yr Author wow... thats odd... how deep is it to the glass.... because the basket just has to be shallow.. the motor can be as deep as the window... pics of the OEM speaker? vehicle type would help toi actually have a picture of that! lol. to the glass it is just shy past 3 inches.im just looking at all these 6.5 i have considered. most of the motors seem to be pretty fatty. lol.it is going into a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew Edited September 3, 201114 yr by Havasufreak
September 3, 201114 yr well the first thing that comes to mind, is the sundown NEOPRO 8... skinny motor.. but im sure that the motor is deeper then 3 inches,. how much room is between the door pannel and the door ?

September 3, 201114 yr By spacer you mean baffle and you ALWAYS need one. Not much depth there for nearly anything. What processing are you using and what are you trying to blend the with?
September 3, 201114 yr Author By spacer you mean baffle and you ALWAYS need one. Not much depth there for nearly anything. What processing are you using and what are you trying to blend the with?i was thinking last night that maybe i could trim that black piece if all it does is act as a track. (where the window doesnt even come close too) ...if that was trimmed its possible the mid driver would fit.im powering the front components with an orion 2 channel amp i used to use for some diamonds subs i had before i stepped up to the bigger boy stuff. lolwould it be ok to use my PVI Mb Quart crossovers and tweeters with the cadence cwm6 mids?
September 4, 201114 yr would it be ok to use my PVI Mb Quart crossovers and tweeters with the cadence cwm6 mids? No, not even close. Recipe for disaster re-using a passive crossover. The tweeters I know nothing about, but wouldn't be excited.

September 4, 201114 yr Author they are 60 bucks shipped.im thinking price has to deal with the material used and construction of the overall kit though.. hmmwith them being 60 bucks i kind of want to try them out. a lot of people bring them up in which components to get and then some say they are pretty rough speakers, but im sure with them being properly installed and what not im sure they could shine.i have a friend who just bought that smd distortion detector aswell so that should help too so i dont over power them. seems im answering my own questions here.. lol
September 5, 201114 yr i have a friend who just bought that smd distortion detector aswell so that should help too so i dont over power them. Your friend got jibbed out of his money, that thing is a useless POS. All marketing no value. Completely not worth using and will do you no good.
September 5, 201114 yr Author then ill stick with the o scope? thanks for your concern. ill have to give it a try before judging it
September 6, 201114 yr Author cool story man.trying it wont hurt anything.. my friend bought it not me.. im lucky enough hes letting me try it out with no price to me. well found some components i like.. guess this topic was a "flaw" more then anything

It isn't the device but HOW you will try to use it. It is completely pointless. If you think differently I have a very simple question for you. What information do you hope to glean from it and HOW will that be the same for all your CD's/mp3's etc.
September 6, 201114 yr well found some components i likeWhat components did you find ?? Will they work for your application ??

For me i plan to use it to find distortion, and setup my system without distortion. I plan to make it the same by using it on my cd and ipod output. Whats your explanation as why it wont work?

Then setup my system below that point. As for now all the music i use is clean signals. And if i get music that is dirty i dont play it in my ride. Now stop avoiding my question and let me ask you where your opinion comes from? Stop avoiding and just answer the question..

September 6, 201114 yr Good choice. and im not disputing anything.. just asking a simple question. Lets see if we get an answer..

September 6, 201114 yr What can the SMD distortion detector do that a DMM can't? Why would you want to set your gains that way in the first place?
September 7, 201114 yr What can the SMD distortion detector do that a DMM can't? Why would you want to set your gains that way in the first place? From the manual. "The purpose of this tool is to enable the installer to set the gain of an audio amplifier to match the source unit’s output level, accurately and quickly. It can also be useful for detecting distortion in the audio signal caused by poorly designed or malfunctioning audio equipment." Now lets see some pics of those speakers
