Useless to measure at the amplifier input terminals, you have no idea what the drop at the amp is, and that is all that counts.

Kicker made in USA = Chinese, exactly the same. If there is a difference, one of them is messed up, or the settings aren't the same. You can't rely on what the knobs are set at also, the silkscreened numbers are never exact.

When the output drops on an amp with that low of power, it isn't because of the vehicle electrical.

The gain setting has nothing to do with how much power the amp is putting out.....

i just took the amp that is messed up back to the guy who had it fixed and hes going to look it over for me to see if anything is wrong

Same alternator I use, they can be found all over the place, very popular case design and a very good alt too. If you are trying to upgrade on the cheap, you're on the right track with an alt from a 250 or 350, an old Ford ambulance will work as well and give you even more power. Time to head for the pull a part.

lol ok thanks. i wasnt sure if the switch would work. ill go to you pull and pay either today or tomorrow and find one off of a f350 and see how it goes. it will give me another 35ampers to play with so it wont be such a stress on everything. (going from 95amps to 130)

Good idea, it's not a huge increase but it's a decent one and you should be able to pick one up for $30-$40.

ya. shoot, id pay 30-40bux for another 35amps. that way, the new alternator i get will last me until i can afford a 220.

iv been drawing 135-150 amp from it for the past year and a half and it still puts out a damn good voltage.

Umm, no you haven't. Not even close.

This is true, there's no way to draw 135 amps from an alt that only makes 95 amps max.

the amp was fused at 150 so either way you look at it, i was drawing more than the alternator was intended to......... that was the point i was trying to make here. i just picked up a new alternator from a 2005 f350. it mounts up perfect. the new alternator is 130 amp. better than my 95 amp lol

Correct me if im wrong but he might just get close to 135 once the alt cant keep up and the batts start to assist. Still doubt he see that at the amp though.
